There is a thread about the track Nas is coming. I wouldn’t mind hearing the original for that. If was said that it used a sample that they couldn’t clear and it was said to Have been much better

Nas already did one project that I always wanted from him, which was an orchestra backed album, although they released the physical too.

I always wished Nas would put out a project ala Gangstar’s Full Clip. It the size of a box set. He once mentioned putting out the first single artist, multi disc box set in hip hop. Nas has several greatest hits albums and my guy, Noah Uman, Did a standard 4-disc Nas compilation a few years back for Legacy Records (I got my name in the liner notes)... but I what I envisioned for Nas’ box set was much greater in scale. It was to contain original studio remixes (like the version of Memory Lane that Q-Tip was fukking with), alternate takes (there are different tales of Take it in Blood, What it is with different lyrics and it was said that Nas had a non- raggae version of Anybody text ), more unreleased tracks, extended versions (like extended street dreams, watch dem nikkas and You the Man) plus soundtrack cuts (Escobar 97, Nas’ Angels, etc) and freestyles.

Jay Z beat him to a B-Side concert but Nas could also do a very tight b-sides concert.

Good chance this will actually be the 2016 album that was supposed to come out in disguise and Im ok with that

According g to this article, the 2016 album is supposed to be dope but I wouldn’t do it that way.

https://djbooth.net/features/2016-10-21-nas-album-isnt-done-yet-but-you-should-be-excited

I’d drop the Def Jams lost tapes with a few of the most recent throwaways and then drop the album 6-8 months later. People have always lusted for the older Nasty Nas vaults, myself included so we will always want those. They could come out later (as long as they come out) but Nas need to keep putting out all his shyt on Mass Appeal now because the only solo project he has done for mass appeal was joint with Def Jam and that was Nasir.

I was listening to recently and still noticing shyt Nas said til this day. Its complex. I really believe Nas was too clever and waaay too NY on IWW. It was brilliantly done no doubt but because it was so technical, so NY (slang) and complex, it missed a lot of your average fans. I think Nas was better, lyrically on IWW than Illmatic but the combination of slang, Mafioso themes and highly complex rhymes was just too much.
IWW was Nas’ biggest commercial success, nikkas biggest argument was that he soul’d out and went pop.

People like me that was at the age that IWW was the first Nas experience thought different, it blew our mind, we never heard anything so Ill and I’m not from NYC. Nas, Kool G and Wu, but Nas in particular is why Juliano Soprano is my forum name, giving props to Mafioso. Lupe and I are about the same age, his piece on IWW explains it perfectly

IWW was/is worth all it’s acclaim and should’ve been one of his biggest successes. No doubt. I just think albums like Ready to Die get more props the IWW and it in my opinion was no where even close to as technical and lyrical. Don’t get me wrong, it was a lyrical masterpiece but still not on the level as IWW was lyrically.

I would take nas series of lost tapes over the b sides concerts everyday.

These articles always find ways of throwing shots at nas in some way regarding beats. It's the most made up regurgitated lie in history.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..

And that was a dumb argument. Cause they were REALLY mad that he went more street. Yet they try to disguise it as he went more pop. IWW is WAY more street than Illmatic. shyt is a darker album than alot of albums they praised. shyt has production from Preemo. Stretch from Live Squad. Havoc. Etc. nikkas was mad that he got production from Trackmasters even tho they did a great job. They were more mad at the name and didnt give a fukk about what the music actually sounded like. But in reality. It was only the “purest” crowd and some of the producers who didnt get a slot on the 2nd album that was pissed. Nas IWW was being played ALL OVER the streets of NY at the time. Out of every whip that passed. Meanwhile. These fukkin “purist” bootlegged Illmatic. And the publication that gave him his 5 mics snubbed him for the more commercial album “Ready to Die” at the Source Awards. Think about it. All of Nas’ classic feature’s leading up to IWW were all in the vein of IWW. Yet nikkas act like he popped outta nowhere wit that style. He had Fast Life, Mo Money Mo Murder, Eye For An Eye, Verbal Intercourse, etc etc all the year before IWW dropped.

IWW was number one on the charts for four STRAIGHT weeks and to this day is Nas best selling album. It made Nas a superstar. That album wasn’t “too much” for people it was just Nas being at his creative and lyrical apex. Dude proved himself a God Body MC who could also sell records

This.

The fact that The Trackmasters had like 5-6 songs on the album is really what brought on "the Nas went Pop" backlash. This still plagues Nas to this day, which is where the "Nas can't pick beats" crowd gets its ammo. What they are really saying is "Nas isn't working with the producers I want/wish him to work with". Salaam Remi was called trash as if "Made You Look" and "Get Down" weren't on the same album or he didn't do "What Goes Around" or didn't produce the best songs on Street's Disciple. L.E.S. caught heat as well as if the songs he produced weren't better than the bigger names on Hip Hop Is Dead or that he wasn't also apart of the lineup for Illmatic and provided Nas with heat throughout his career.

Who remembers people in an uproar once Nas announced he was working with will.i.am for Hip Hop Is Dead? There were people getting all worked up talking about Fergie was gonna be on the album. Album came out and the song below ended up being one of the best songs on the album:

^^^ No Fergie. Nothing Pop about it. Just soulful, feel good music with Nas reminiscing and Chrisette singing.
