God's Son back.

Lost Tapes 1 is as good as Ill and IWW
shyt to me it's better than IWW.

And honestly Illmatic may be the GOAT hip-hop album of all time but I listen to Lost Tapes way more than I listen to Illmatic at this point in my life. I'm not saying it's better but it becomes worldly and steps outside in a way that I think speaks to more people as they age and go through life in a way that Ilmatic doesn't (if only because he was so young when he wrote it and you can only write what you know.)

I hope I don't get flamed for that. I love Illmatic to death but once you get into your late 20's and especially into your 30's...if Lost Tapes is something you've liked it will become something you appreciate more and more each year.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Lost Tapes is top 3 Nas releases.

I agree entirely with that, I love moments of Illmatic, but the rettrospective hustler of IWW and the retrospective man/artist of The Lost Tapes always spoke to me more, increasingly as the years go by, faster. I kind of put Illmatic in a different spot, so iconic it isn't even in the discussion really.

My favorite Nas was the one who wrote Drunk By Myself, Nothing Lasts Forever, and Watch Dem nikkas, in the 96-2000 years. The Escobar persona mixed with the struggles of his real and imagined life.

I think there are going to big some big surprises on this album. How are we going to feel if most of our favorites are left unreleased?

There are so many and most of us want 98% of his music, not only CDQ but officially released. The collector in me wants it all but the truth is this Lost Tapes is going to look different that the 2010 version which is going to look totally different that the 2003 version that was mentioned but obviously never announced.

I just hope this one does well enough to force them to release another in a couple of years.
