"Felt established, fake as he smile, handshake questionable
"Am I good?" he ask, thinkin', "But is he testin' you?"

These lines throw me off in "Not for Radio". Am I hearing them correctly?

Nas knows who 9th Wonder is lol. 9th was happy as hell around the time Distant Relatives dropped because he finally got the “call” to send Nas a beat. He was on Youtube cheesing and playing beats like “C’MON NASSSSS:krs:
I remember this. He was so happy. I'm sure he was crying in a dark room when he didn't make it.

You the one in your feels bruh... again relax. Hip hop is about fun competition. You insecure over taking this seriously, maybe you need a hug or something.
You’re all over the place and don’t even know what you’re saying. It’s all “friendly competition” when you’re teying to clown jay because the thread for his album isn’t as big as this thread. Then when I hit you with the real world numbers it’s “calm down man get out your feelings we just playing”.
Most of us are just discussing nas, why you keep talking bout jay breh? Theres a whole other thread about the beyonce jay joint. You been posting non stop in this thread about c00nye this and nas stans that, nobody gives a fukk breh, go that way.
fukk you, insecure ass bytch. You lames do nothing but troll and now you cry.

I think I need to run this back to make sure I aint tripping.:patrice:

Did this nikka Nas forget how to rap? Flow is just weird and not appealing. How old man Jay flowing better than Nas?

On 1st listen, aint no music on here that make a nikka really want to play this shyt back.

I swear Nas be sounding like the Goat when he gets on tracks with nikkas who already picked a dope beat and already have a dope song concept. i.e. Game or Ross.

After sitting with this project for a bit, it's a cool appetizer for hopefully a full Nas album in the near future

While I liked the production Kanye provided, lyrically I didn't have as much to grab onto. He didn't attack of the records like he did on LIG. I don't think the flow was shaky so much as it wasn't as sharp. With Nas last few albums being so conceptual, it was surprising to not really see anything of that nature beside Cops.

Still a good project, but feels like a mixtape EP. 3.5/⅝

Lost Tapes is a classic and some Nas fans favorite album. LIG is 4.5 mic album.

Nasir not being on their level doesn't make it a bad album.

Exactly. Even if you rate it 3/5, that's still a good album. I mean Illmatic is 5, which would be a classic. You can put albums like Lost Tapes, Stillmatic, and LIG at 4, which is "great". Then a slew of Nas albums at 3. Nas my fav artist, but I'm not gonna stan out and rate all his joints 4 and 5 stars. It's demeaning to the couple of truly amazing albums he's had.

What is this”can't rap like that anymore” business? Is it like basketball where you can't jump anymore? Makes no sense at all. What goes on in your brain?

You really need to listen to more music then. Athletes, musicians, including rappers, almost always fall off at some point... Creatively, and performance wise. Usually between mid to late 30s. It's just natural, the brain peaks with the body. I wouldn't say it about Nas yet, but I can understand if a few people think that about this project.

A Mississippi Cotton Field
only things I don't like about the album is

1. Nas looked like he was struggling at first with the Cop Shot the Kid beat, plus the beat actually overpowers him and Kanye.

2. That section with the heavy horns on White Label goes on for waaaay too long. shyts sound like they was rapping their own 3 16 bar verses.

outside from that, album is great. :yeshrug:

Yes, you are tripping breh. And I'll take this over Jay doing his best Migo's impression. I swear those dudes have damn near ruined game as far as what is expected in regards to pocket, cadence, jargon and etc

I dont agree. I see what you're saying. Elton John and Billy Joel can't make hits anymore. But I don't think it's their ability. It's their style and sound. The moment has passed and the market has already moved past them. That's what impressive about Kanye. He keeps reinventing his own sound and constantly leaves behind the stuff that made him popular in the past.

I can say that about Nas too. That's why when you say he can't flow and rap like he used to. That makes no sense. That well has dried up and rapping like he used to means outdating himself. I think Nas has always ridden the edge and he sounds pretty energetic here. Same with the sound that Kanye is serving. It's on the edge of the market's taste so some people might not get it yet. It's a bit too new and the crowd isn't used to it.

A lot of the old heads keep serving the old shyt and it's dated and predictable. I enjoy this album more than LIG because it's fresh.

I don't even fukk with that Apeshyt song, but Jay wasn't on no Migos shyt the rest of the album. He sounded quite nice, definitely a step up from 4:44, where he didn't seem to care about his flow.

It's not garbage, but it's not that dope either. Jay Rock & Push T just dropped heat. Black Thought still spittin like he's in his prime. Don't really see myself holding on to any of this content long term.:yeshrug:

I still don't understand the "flow" issue. Especially in comparing Jay-Z who is nowhere spitting like he was in 96-01... Maybe it is the 6 year break, you expect him to rhyme like most of these rappers today rhyme, because I do not see a difference in his flow at all. I do see how people TODAY spit to each is own, but it's not the kind of rhyme cadence or stanza that would of worked regardless. Nas sounded like how Nas sounded his entire career.
