finally got around to listening to the full album

i wasn't expecting a classic but it was still just cool to me. dont know if its nas's flow or the beat is throwing but some sections just sound awkward.

7/10

I don't even fukk with that Apeshyt song, but Jay wasn't on no Migos shyt the rest of the album. He sounded quite nice, definitely a step up from 4:44, where he didn't seem to care about his flow.

It's not garbage, but it's not that dope either. Jay Rock & Push T just dropped heat. Black Thought still spittin like he's in his prime. Don't really see myself holding on to any of this content long term.:yeshrug:

Pusha's album was at least a year in the making.
Jay Rock? I think dude is mediocre.
Black Thought rhymes over the same non melodic beats with hard breaks that don't force him to switch it up.

nikkas been saying Nas' flow is off on every album and song since Untitled. shyt I even seen people take it as far back as I Am. And have seen the same people who say that big up Cormega. Lmao. U cant make this type of shyt up. Nas gets fukkin MICROSCOPIC treatment I swear. If he listened to all of these idiots he would've stopped making music in 96. Lol

They want a paint-by-numbers flow cause that's how they process music mentally.

"I studied music for 3 years at Juliyard" ass nikkas

fukk up outta here.

The Kelis issue is just to undermine Nas.

Kelis had an entire album made for her, the divorce paper and now she claim violence the same month she wants more money?

Nas response remains the same as 6 years ago

"You resent me every time I make a million, right?
You want to experience life when you calling all the shots
Ordering bottles for all your girls up in the spot
Have your own cash, own your own Benz
Your own house, everything, me I understand"

Nas fanboys are so insecure that it's to the point of delusion. The everything is love joint isn't even a jay album. It's a beyoncé album featuring jay. The fact that this site is infested by fake self righteous insecure Nas trolls aside, you should expect the first album in 6 years from a legend like Nas to be more talked about than a surprise hip hop r&bish album starring beyonce featuring jay.

What I don't understand is how y'all can be so insecure and antagonistic at the same time. Y'all keep this competition/beef with jay alive not realizing that it's the ultimate source of your insecurity and overall sense of being unfulfilled with Nas and his career. If y'all were secure in nas's music and legacy then you constantly feel the need to compete with jay.

This is why I dismissed the "jay tryna sabotage Nas" gossip. Jay playing a whole different game. It would be silly for him and beyonce to even be thinking about Nas.

You buy whatever album you want breh.

I bought and listen to Nas. End of the story.
IDK about The Carters. I didn't even downloaded their stuff.:yeshrug:

I listened to their album. It's decent. Worth your time. It's a Beyonce album with Jay-Z features but it's forgettable to me. I feel like I can literally hear Jigga holding Beyonce's purse.

I DON'T HATE THEM. Actually, I'm a fan but there's something about their album that bothers me. The whole "Look at Us", "We're so strong", "We made it" theme is weird to me. It's like "who are you convince?". So that rubs me the wrong way but that's me. I'm private with my relationships and don't like that type of theatrical life but hey, you do you. Just not for me.

Of course they don’t care about Nas dropping a 7 song album. They are on a 200 million dollar tour and Drake is dropping soon. So this is really the best space, in between Drake/Pusha beef + Kanye drop and when drake returns from his grave. Given that they didn’t drop 2 months ago.

I dont agree. I see what you're saying. Elton John and Billy Joel can't make hits anymore. But I don't think it's their ability. It's their style and sound. The moment has passed and the market has already moved past them. That's what impressive about Kanye. He keeps reinventing his own sound and constantly leaves behind the stuff that made him popular in the past.

I can say that about Nas too. That's why when you say he can't flow and rap like he used to. That makes no sense. That well has dried up and rapping like he used to means outdating himself. I think Nas has always ridden the edge and he sounds pretty energetic here. Same with the sound that Kanye is serving. It's on the edge of the market's taste so some people might not get it yet. It's a bit too new and the crowd isn't used to it.

A lot of the old heads keep serving the old shyt and it's dated and predictable. I enjoy this album more than LIG because it's fresh.

As I said in my first reply, I wouldn't say that about Nas. But it's abundantly clear in Hip-Hop. Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Styles P, Talib Kweli... Actually a really good example is ROYCE.

Your brain has to be sharp, and active, to create a good flow. As you grow older, you become complacent with your craft, your brain begins to focus on other things in life, for some alot of drugs will fukk your flow up. These same things can also fukk up your ability to write good lyrics, just like it can affect a guitarists ability to think of cutting edge riffs, and be able to play them too.

It's directly relatable to sports, as your metabolism begins to fade from old age, your creativity in making plays fades, even your mind's ability to read plays fade.

This applies to all things in life really, because it's just what happens in life when you get old. Yes people like Nas and Kanye have managed to stay relevant and pivot after their 40s, but that's extremely rare. Just like there's those odd gems in sports that are very dedicated, or are smart enough to use the tools they have left and their experience to approach the game differently in order to be successful.
