Nas got three singles for Stillmatic, Gods Son, and Streets Disciple

Stillmatic- Rule, Got Yourself A Gun, One Mic

Gods Son- Made You Look, I Can, Thugs Mansion

Streets Disciple- Thief’s Theme, Bridging The Gap, Moment Of Silence

He also got three for It Was Written and Four for Illmatic

IWW- If I Ruled The World, Street Dreams, Street Dreams Remix

Illmatic- Halftime, It Hard To Tell, The World Is Yours, One Love

The ONLY reason he didn’t get three for I Am is because they shifted the marketing strategy to Nastradamus. So Nas really got “four” singles those album cycles

I Am- Nas Is Like, Hate Me Now

Nastradamus- Title track. Owe Me
Nah some of those wasn’t really pushed as singles by Columbia.

Rule didn’t have a video or get pressed as a CD. Thugz Mansion was the version off Better Dayz, not Gods Son. That was released by Amaru/Interscope, not Columbia.

Streets Disciple only got 3 videos because the album got pushed back so far. “Theifs theme” was supposed to be the lead single but after the album got moved “Bridging The Gap” was pushed as the lead single and “Just A Moment” was the follow up. “Theifs Theme” was added to the album as a bonus track

Columbia only worked Nas albums to a certain extent. As a Nas fan in the late 90s early 00s we knew what time it was. But they did allow him the freedom to push songs like Nas Is Like and One Mic. That was the give and take.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Damn.... Nas making half a mill in a day off two songs.. Sheesh!

Crazy considering that article says he still has 50% of the streaming rights.

Up your catalogue dog mines worth too much/ like Mike Jack’s ATV Pub Motolla can’t touch

Didn’t Nas once want to collab with Prince but Prince fronted because Nas didn’t own his own masters? What a turnaround :mindblown::wow::ahh:

He basically said he prefers Kane as an MC overall because Kane was fly. He had songs for every occasion whereas KRS was more one dimensional. He also HEAVILY inferred that Kane was lyrically better than KRS which the most shocking thing to me

that shyt is shocking. Would never have expected that… learned something new

The "teacher" element that Nas pointed out is what made KRS a great, I never thought he was as lyrical as Kool G Rap, Kane, Rakim or Kool Moe D

I haven’t listened yet but that is insightful and maybe further affirms that even before really getting into the rap game Nas was mindful of the appeal in being versatile. I think that also explains why he has been wary of being trapped by a certain sound or style. He’s experimented quite a bit throughout his career and maybe that’s because he didn’t want to be perceived as being one dimensional. :manny:

I disagree. I always thought KRS was top tier lyrically and preferred him over the likes of Kane and Kool Moe Dee. KRS was also able to better adapt to the times than Kane or Moe Dee.
