I half agree with you. Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and The Grammy’s have never been relevant in hip hop circles. I’m not saying their individual review holds weight, but the aggregate of reviews holds weight. Universal critical acclaim opens doors. Grammy wins definitely open doors.

I’m not saying they gotta like the album at all, the problem comes when their ratings are weighted so heavily that bring down the aggregate score of an album or an artist which affects the wider narrative. Culturally their individual reviews mean nothing and it won’t affect my enjoyment of an album. And times are changing, but that doesn’t mean they still aren’t trying to gatekeep our success. And when they do, I see no reason they shouldn’t be called out for it.

Well, Nas is still sitting on Universal acclaim with this album and if there were more positive reviews, it goes higher. KD2 is his most acclaimed album on Metacritic by the way.

Have yall ever met a fan of Peter Rosenberg? Off that, have you ever met anyone who respects/values Peter Rosenberg's opinion? I guarantee you have not...so why do yall get so worked up about these reviews from these powerless, corny ass people?

The overwhelming consensus is "Magic" is straight fire and Nas's best album in decades...stop caring so much about what damn near voiceless people have to say and why they're saying it,. Your reaction gives them way more power than they actually have.

If Charlamagne went on his syndicated radio show and shytted on Magic then I'd understand why Nas fans would feel a way, he has a huge platform(s) and is a prominent, semi-respected voice in hip hop. Yall get heated about reviews that literally no one who isn't on a hip hop message board, most likely, will ever even hear about. Lol, I don't know 1 person in real life who knows what pitchfork is.

No and not only that, he's despised in different communties he covers

-Rap fans think hes a CaC vulture with snobby takes even when he tries to curate underground rap
-Wrestling fans think hes a WWE Shill
-New York sports radio fans think hes an a$$hole cause hes a CaC from Maryland who roots for Boston teams
-Plus he kinda came up off neopotism, his dad was in the media I believe.

While I dont doubt his love for hip hop, dude's career trajectory also screams cultural appropriation (using black culture to then get mainstream white gigs)

Peter Rosenberg was actually respectable and tolerable in the late 00s/early 10s, but the Juan Ep fame and WWE shyt blew his ego ALL the way the fukk up and he developed an insufferable attitude. He forgot Juan Ep was popping cuz of the guests lmao

I cannot WAIT for the brehs on According 2 Hip Hop to roast this a$$hole.

Kings Disease 2 is one of Nas’s most celebratory albums. The album literally ENDS with a song called Nas Is Good!

And you can accuse Nas of a lot of things if you want, but chasing awards is NOT one of them and never has been.

They must have forgot the part where Nas said "They finally gave Nas the Grammy/Just front me the gold, that wasn't the goal." Either that or they don't even know that he said it because they didn't listen to the album more than once. :francis:
