Don’t even waste your time breh. I think they edited the title of the article because when you see the link on Google they changed it from “Dismal” to “Modest”
She said it's not that serious that she loves Nas.. If it were up to her he would be debuting number 1.. She also says the album is dope... She was clearly trolling so I'm about to troll her some.

good discussion

Bro...this doesn't have that many views...so that means it's wack.

That shyt sounds so stupid, lol. Salute to the FNC though for literally having nothing else plausible to condemn Nas for at this point so they just focus the hate on the sales. FNC = fukk Nas Coalition, btw.. And salute to actual Nas fans who let the sales waver your opinion on the work in any capacity, yall weird as shyt too.

hit-boy is as GOAT as it gets

he has hit records with the biggest artists in the world
he has masterfully produced albums with the best lyricists in the game

HitBoy is definitely one of if not best producer of the past few years. All time? He'd be in my Top 30. Considering he impacted in like 2009, Top 30 is pretty good standing.

99% of his haters love Nas, confused admiration.

30k for an overnight announced 15th(?) album during the holiday season is not by any stretch bad. She knew what she was doing with that article and I salute you for calling her out for it :salute:

He outsold Rick Ross :mindblown:

It doesn’t matter because it got undersold by the media and even Nas fans, but a song like Breathe for example was incredibly poignant last year with the George Floyd incident for example, it’s just that it goes under the radar, what Nas was talking about in 08 is still relevant today but it takes a rapper in favor with the media and mainstream America for it to get the respect it deserves.

Breathe America Testify Fried Chicken are great relevant tracks in any era of black history, it’s funny because it seems that people need a white cac media to tell them what poignant black political rap is which is funny in itself.

Sly Fox is too relevant also not to mention that song goes in line with other far right media Oan,newsmaxx, etc

Yup, mad songs on Untitled are very relevant in todays climate but it went under the radar because Nas made that album before being "woke" became the trendy thing to do in the years that followed the album

Summer 2008, people were too concerned about Lil Wayne's success and one hit wonder dances in the club....during a Recession. Nas dropping Untitled was the reality that far too many weren't ready to face.

Its disgusting how Nas gets no credit for the risk he took multiple times in his career artistically

Without Nas career in the mainstream Rap ecosystem we would have only have vapid capitalistic mantra music from Hov.

Atleast Nas can meld the aspirational gangsta with the conscious artistically going back as far as It Was Written

Even now, not just commercial rappers, but even a lot of street rappers shyt on Nas for "wearing his kufi" and spitting pro-black lyrics. Mind you, most of Nas's critics in the rap game are broke, drugged out, legacies ruined due to becoming a parody, and so on. He inspired Kendrick, Cole, Wale, and tons more rappers who still making music today to drop mature music for heads 30+. "Magic" is just Nas proving that anyone that follows his legacy and push the artform forward, will be gifted and blessed with a long career and a fanbase that will grow old with you, with grace and dignity.

There's not many that stand out to me these days, but that's not the point. We're talking about Hit-Boy, not other producers - and I feel that his production, while good, is sometimes too polished/robotic and lacking a certain oomph, especially in his drum choices - this sticks out even more when he does more "traditional" boom bap songs, as they don't hit quite like they should.
maybe you are just married to an old aesthetic and being a producer yourself with a preference you are critical from that end. because you are on the verge of being purist.

maybe he doesn't have to check those boxes. hit-boy was one of the first major fruity loop producers to blow even before nikkaz in paris. he didn't come from a hardware set up sampling vinly or whatever. if he checked all the boxes you want him to he wouldn't be doing updated boom bap tho he would just be doing traditional boom bap. he does his own version of shyt.

I hear the inspirations and maybe you feel that his songs fail to compare to what they emulate like the Just Blaze sounding 40-16. Even when he uses Premo's actual drums on wave gods some people say the drums are weak...

I don't think anything was wrong with the sample choices, if anything it could be his mix engineer and the mastering, that I feel could be better. he delivers on his end.
