Now I'm starting to get why some people are comparing this album to Lost Tapes.

Magic... a completely surprise album from Nas with new tracks he isn't using on the other album he's working on (KD3)
Lost Tapes... Now I was too young to remember lost tapes being dropped but I'm sure no one was really expecting nas (or anyone) to drop a collection of songs he left off of prior albums.

Both albums feel a lot more personal that a lot of his other work (even though they are all personal). All/most tracks on both albums he's taking you through his thoughts / mind set etc.

I feel like the zone I'm in when I listen to Magic reminds me of the zone for Lost Tapes

Yea Lost Tapes came outta nowhere and honestly the way that shyt sequenced it feels like one of his most personal albums as far as delving into his mind and how he feels and what he thinks about the world around him. Be it politics, music industry, religion, women, the hood, his friends, his parents, depression, all kinda shyt. I took so many jewels from Lost Tapes it was the soundtrack to my life at one point. Absolute classic.

fukking fire.

Joe Black, Ugly, 40-16 Building, The Truth :wow:

Speechless and Joe Black are straight QB shyt

These the type of beats I wanna hear Nas on, not the mainstream stuff - not interested in hearing man on tracks with Lil Durk and Big Sean :camby:

Only legends deserve to touch booth with Esco

Exactly bro. This is my most cherished album ever. Used to play it every day, especially at night. Must've done this for over a year straight.

Spliz maybe you have this, I'm looking for the promo poster/Source ad they had back then that went like "no single, no feature, no bullshyt" I just can't find it anywhere on the net

Dope dealers, street hustlers, pot cases
Throw dice, on pavement, cop chases
Big gamblers, scullies, hide faces
Gang wars, hot spots, police raid it
Left ‘em speechless
Left ‘em speechless

:wow:
The beat transition on the song to this chorus is epic.
I juss love the elements Hitboy puts in his beats since KD1 ive been a fan of that.
sometimes i jus put the album in just to take in the beats.
Sometimes even after several listens u catch a different element. like them scratches on Ugly:whew:

I always loved the Lost Tapes. That shyt just pulled me in and stayed in rotation to this very day. It was good to be able to get those records because they show the more personal introspective side of Nas that we only would see glimpses of. It was completely opposite of what was commercially pushed at the time. There’s something special about that collection of songs.

This write up on The Lost Tapes offers some good insight into how it came to be
