I think people are forgetting one crucial fact…

A Nas/Alch Album
Nas/Madlib Album
Nas Premo Album
Nas/Large Pro Album
Nas/AZ Album
Nas/Firm Album

Would not work for one simple reason…

Nas does NOT WANT TO DO THAT shyt

If Nas wanted to do an album with Premier then he would’ve been the first person Nas hit up when he was free of Def Jam. Nas could’ve done an album with Alchemist at any point the past 20 years. He had an entire album recorded with Timbaland that Timbaland said he was his best production in years. Nas wasn’t feeling it.

If NAS isn’t inspired to do the shyt, then forcing him to work with a producer, ANY PRODUCER, is going to turn out horribly. Nas needs to be inspired and for whatever reason Alchemist is the producer for Armand Hammer and Boldy James. NOT Nas. Madlib is the producer for MF Doom and Freddie Gibbs. NOT Nas. Premier is the producer for Royce Da 5’9. NOT Nas.

Hit-Boy at present, is the producer for Nas. Ya’ll think Nas just sits around and listens to beat CD’s from Premier, Alchemist, and Madlib, hears some world shattering shyt that puts fire in his belly and inspiration in his soul and says to himself “Nah dun. Run me some other shyt”. Of COURSE not.

Them dudes ain’t the producers for Nas. Its simple as that. Nas wouldn’t make anything with them that would be at all better than KD1, KD2, or Magic because they haven’t INSPIRED him too.

Bro if Nas listened to these same critics he wouldn't be where he is today :yeshrug:
That’s what they wanted. They wanted Nas to be that prodigy from the hood who had a good album and that’s it. Maybe you bring him out at your 500 person venue show to hype the crowd for your DJ set. Maybe you do an “Illmatic 2” album in 2000 and sell 10k copies first week. Basically…they wanted him to be OC man. No offense to OC he’s had a dope career but that’s clearly not what Nas wanted.

Nobody listens to a Hov album and complains that Premo isn’t on there. I’m just saying. Nobody elevated the voice of rap nerds who were saying Kanye’s drums were wack and Blueprint should have been produced by Premo or something.
