Nas - Magic 2 (Discussion thread)

People were wilding about the 21 Savage track on Reddit though, going on about how they want all new Nas when they get a Nas album, so crybaby was the proper response. I doubt this song kept other songs off of the album, so it's not like you're getting less new Nas than you would have gotten, they just found a home for that song, probably as a bonus track. It's not my favorite song but I don't think it would be an album-killer by any stretch.

I mean damn, Nas has kept us well fed these last few years and people are whining he found a home for a loosie.

Yea people are wildin about that personally. Let Nas do him. Just be thankful we are getting more new music from Nas. He doesn’t even have to do this.

Yeah if it's a bonus track that's cool. I like the song more than most but I will say the upbeat trumpets on the song give off KD vibes more than the dark Magic vibes. Sequencing is important, especially because the first Magic's sequencing was pretty much flawless IMO.

for me it's more it wasn't part of the build up to the album it feels strange. if this was the lead single then sure makes sense. But that song felt for the moment after the whole 'relevancy' drama. So now having it on the album just seems random as hell. Doesn't help song to me isn't great

It's not a big deal it's on there but not gonna pretend I think it's a great addition to the album.

I'm thinking... "office hours" for street dudes and not the 9 to 5 daily work schedule.

I was thinking it's about transitioning from the streets to the corporate environment. Nas and 50 going back to back reminiscing about Queens street tales, a Black Just reference, then talking about investments and their current success. 50 singing the hook. At least that's what I'm hoping for but it might just be random ass bars about nothing and one of them said "office hours" in their verse so that's the title

I prefer features to be actual collaborations with artists playing off each other like what Nas and AZ always used to do. Nas and 50 getting together should be mean something but I don't get my hopes up for features because most times they're not in the studio it's "I need a verse" and it gets emailed. We'll see.

True. We wouldn't know if the song replaced anything unless we were told, and I highly doubt it did. It's just going to end up like "Spicy" or "'Til My Last Breath."

Seeing as how they made "EPMD 2," I'm thinking Hit-Boy will remix the beat a little to add some flair to it. Maybe Nas has a new verse or something.

Lol EVERYBODY who speaks about Ms Ann Jones says she was the sweetest woman. Plus i’m sure she’d rather have Nas in the lab than out on the block with Jungle.

Its crazy that if we’re talking pre-Live At The BBQ then its a 17 year old Large Professor calling a 15 year old Nas to the studio because 20 year old Rakim didn’t make the session and 27 year old Eric B needed to make sure the money didn’t go to waste.
