Magic had darker production choices and was more lyrically aggressive and direct. It felt like Nas was rapping rapping again. Short, sweet, straight to the point.
This is contradictory. if KD 1-3 is this amazing run but Magic is where he REALLY rappin, then wtf is he doin on the other 3 albums?! :wtf:

Any time I’m in those KD threads nggas :pacspit: at the mere notion these are anything but flawless albums. Something ain’t addin up

So in other words you just sayin whatever

KD3 has Thun, Reminisce, once a man, serious interlude…kd2 has rare,Store run, moments, nobody, Nas is good. All ‘old school’ sounding and themed tracks.

Magic is just shorter more concise that’s the only real difference

The difference between the KD series and Magic is that the KD series is more “musical” than Magic. Magic is modern day Boom Bap. There are NO sung hooks. There are NO R&B samples. Its the least shall we say “experimental” of the albums to date. Its also less lyrically diverse, actually probably best to say less CREATIVELY diverse in case someone thinks i’m saying Nas took a step back lyrically. Its basically 9 tracks of Nas punching his chest and outright saying he’s the greatest. There’s no vulnerability, even albums like I am and Stillmatic, where Nas is at his most aggressive and braggadocios there are moments of humility. Magic is Nas beating into your head that he’s the greatest, nobody else is close, and that he loves this Hip Hop shyt so much he’s dedicated every ounce of his being to it. There is literally one theme to Magic. “ I AM Hip Hop and Hip Hop IS me”

ay man.. you gon stop with the subliminals. @Me

you was the main one in here talmbout this gonna be a Premier album and tried to argue me down like I dont know shyt. Now you changed the station.

I didn’t say THIS was a premier album. I said my prediction was Nas would release TWO albums this year. ONE with Hit Boy to represent Hip Hop’s present and future and ONE with Premiere as a celebration of Hip Hop’s past.

And if I wanted to come at you I would have quoted you. I ain’t scared to debate with ANYONE when it comes to this rap shyt.

I'm not into disrespecting our legends especially the ones responsible for the foundation of Nas sound. I'll say this the nikkaz how don't feel HB or whatever "It's not old Nas not the same" do you hold every legend to that same standard? I don't say turn off No Hook from Jay because it's not D'Evils or DP2. Do nikkaz not see how ridiculous that is? or Prodigy Rotten Apple because it's not Quiet Storm :snoop:

Thinking people don't like an artist's new music because it doesn't sound like the old stuff is an oversimplification. There's a lot more to it. Criticisms have been explained in detail multiple times but if you're gonna default to "you just want Illmatic" than we're not going to get anywhere.
