For the people talking about Hitboy’s other productions, there is a certain energy the artist has to bring for his beats to shine. You can’t just put anybody over a Hitboy track and think it’s going to be fire. Thats what Game thought and Snoop thought after they heard KD

Nas and him together are a cheat code and seem to understand each other musically. The best comparison I can make is Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Deda and Rob O could rap, the productions were great, but there’s a reason those albums took 10 years to come out on a compilation.

I think if game used Hit Boy exclusively for that album, it would have been better. Game had so much going on with that album. Hit only ended up with like 5-6 tracks. Hit Killed that Musiq Soulchild album though. I know a lot of y’all didn’t tap in, but it’s a gem.

Game worked with Hit Boy back in 2011, Snoop worked with him in 2008. I'm sure they appreciated the KD series but they've known him as a west coast producer long before he linked with Nas.

I remember Hit was a lil tight that Game didn’t go in the original direction they were supposed to go with him producing the entire album. Game caught a little heat and thought it was the glory days again where he had the juice to carry a 20 something song album with all the hottest producers when all he had to do was knock out 10-12 tracks with Hit and he could have had at worst a top 5 album of last year, instead be put out a THIRTY SONG behemoth full of filler.

Thats two more posts than I ever gave an Alchemist album…

I’m not nor have I ever been a producer based listener. I don’t listen to Hip Hop for instrumentals, I listen to Jazz and orchestra for that, sometimes a little Lo Fi if i’m writing. I want to hear rappers RAP and the production in my opinion is a soundscape for an MC to express his thoughts, viewpoints, stories, etc.

I think Nas Is Like is one the most creative and ear pleasing beats of all time, but i’m not listening to the instrumental. I’m listening to Nas in correlation to the beat. What he drew from it. What it inspired within him.
