Funny how they mention Nas sounded uncomfortable on Nasir. I don’t think they know Kanye was sending nas unfinished beats to rap over the week of :russ:

To this day, I don’t know how Nas’ team let that album see the light of day.
I thought Nasir and Lost Tapes 2 was Nas just fulfilling his Def Jam contract so that he could be fully indie

Doesn't mean he rushed them though, I respect Nas too much as an artist to assume that. Nasir being bad is the fault of Mike Dean and Kanye, not Nas. They rushed his process, the vocals were mixed off beat in some cases, and various other things are just lazy. I'd imagine if Nas knew beforehand that he wouldn't be spending a lot of time in the studio with Kanye, or that the album had to be finished within a set period of time no matter what...he wouldn't have agreed to do it.

Lost Tapes 2...eh. Some good songs but a lot of stuff that prob should have stayed in the vaults. I could have happily gone on living without hearing Royalty or Queens Wolf. I don't think they just randomly picked some bad songs to quickly get out of a contract though. It was just an ehh collection, compared to what we thought we'd be getting. Didn't sound like he was receptive to the idea in that last Khaled interview but if we did get a LT3...I think most people would prefer Sony/Columbia Nas over Def Jam Nas.

They put themselves where they didn't dwell
I was there, saw them almost shyt themselves
Walked in the club one day the pistol fell
I gripped my belt, shyt was real
Back then, when I used to ship a mil' out the gate
Different world, digital scales to record shelves
A symposium with my bros and ‘nem
That mean we kick it with official bros
My journey was great but difficult
What is life if it isn't both?

That song was fiyah lol. I co-sign the Royalty slander

Ironically, Hit-Boy produced the worst song on that entire album. Hit Boy was also responsible for the abomination that was Black Girl Lost pt 2

Who woulda thought they would evolve to this? :wow:

Cuz man…we thought nas was done at that point. Me personally, I said Nas has given me enough classic material to already be my GOAT. Anything else is icing on the cake.

But then he rattles off 5 studio albums
I mean I get it. I can see talking about that Nasir album maybe at KD2. After that he has rattled off 3 more dope albums. I don’t think a mistep by many needs to be brought up every release.
