I think the people maybe be underrating how Nas is doing a a majority of these albums on his own. Outside of KD1-KD2. Nas has been on a majority solo mission and hasn’t missed a beat. Who else can do that?
It's not really even mentioned because Nas can carry the tracks himself. Hooks, verses. Also credit to Hitboy for being able to make the song and entire album interesting enough to not need a feature to "fill in".

I’ve listened to it enough now, obviously some joints I might look at a different perspective in the near future but this album is a 3.5/5 for me.

It’s not even that this joint has weak songs but the highs aren’t really on the same level as their previous releases.

:yeshrug:

Or maybe I’m suffering from Nas/Hit Boy fatigue & need leave this joint for a while & revisit it in a few months or so :jbhmm:

Pretty much in the same place. Really like the Black Magic-Motion-Bokeem and WIARM-Slow It Down-Pistols stretches. Other tracks are solid. Appreciate it for having some unexpected directions that sound different than anything else they done on this run

Seem like the Magic installments are almost like mixtapes, just put out there with no real promo to feed the core fanbase. And the first one they overachieved because Nas was really locked in at that time for whatever reason. This one not as cohesive, just a solid collection of tracks until the next project :yeshrug:

Nas floated on Black Magic

Yeah this one is climbing up the ranks for me
People that don’t like that song have just convinced themselves that they don’t like Nas on modern production no matter how good he sounds and how fire the song is. Black Magic is super fire. The women love that record to.

My Country is great. The interplay between the shackles of jail and war...come on that shyt is dope lol.

I don't think Smokin is bad but it's meh IMO.
My Country is a brilliant record and it coming out on the heels of 9/11 makes it even more special. The country at the time was caught up in pseudo patriotism and war mongering propagand. Meanwhile Nas makes two anti war tracks while Hov at the time makes Ballad of a Fallen Soldier. Sharp contrast between the two

Does KD2 standout to anyone else? I mean the feel, that album feels like the only “big” album they’ve done. KD1 is like that too kinda but not on KD2’s level. Compare the joints on KD2 to the joints on the other albums, they’re so much bigger, pause.

Death Row East
Nobody
Store Run
EPMD 2
My Bible
40 Side
Count Me In
Nas is Good

Like these all sound like they could have been on previous Nas albums (maybe not 40 side)…whereas most of the other songs on these albums, for the most part, sound like they’d only fit in this Hitboy and Nas bag…which is a fire bag but I’m just saying.. I wish Nas would have did a regular promo run for KD2, I think this could have been the one to “blow”. It’s like KD1 on roids. Like for real, imagine if he promo’d and shot a video for “Nobody” with Lauren. Come on…that woulda been outta here.
Composure sounds like what I thought Nasir would sound like. Classic Nas over soulful horns.

I always like that guitar strings on the track, gives the song a real melancholy feel. Rule being right before and What Goes Around after was elite sequencing. Always felt the anti war message in that song (Rule) is the reason it wasn’t heavily promoted. But man Nas was in his bag on that album. From raw raps, creative attempt, storytelling, diss records, fly shyt, politics etc. Album had it all on a near perfect caliber. Man I like revisiting the album during cold seasons but I got to revisit it soon.

Yeah, if Nas isn’t on some boom bap or traditional beat then chances are they won’t fukk with it. Or if he’s doing unconventional flows they will say he’s off beat damn near all the time.

I’ve heard nikkas on here say he was off beat and awkward on “30” off KD3. shyt, I’ve heard nikkas on here say the double time flow he used on Heaven off God’s Son was “clumsy and awkward”. A good portion of “Nas fans” are delusional when it comes to Nas

That goes the other way too with the stanning and overhyping of certain shyt. It’s understandable because Nas is really the best at what he does

Funny how they mention Nas sounded uncomfortable on Nasir. I don’t think they know Kanye was sending nas unfinished beats to rap over the week of :russ:

To this day, I don’t know how Nas’ team let that album see the light of day.
Im still trying to figure out why these pods keep mentioning that Nasir album. That was like 6 albums ago at this point haha.

Cuz man…we thought nas was done at that point. Me personally, I said Nas has given me enough classic material to already be my GOAT. Anything else is icing on the cake.

But then he rattles off 5 studio albums
