Off topic: Why do cats still consider "Braveheart Party" as part of the album? It was OFFICIALLY removed soon after the album's release. The track no longer appears as part of the album, anywhere.

Stillmatic is a stone-cold classic but it bugs me that a few cats bring up "Braveheart Party" when pointing out any of the album's flaws. Never understood it since that track hasn't been on the album for more than 20 years lol.

Thats like rewriting history though. I feel like what they originally released is what counts. I mean the CD I own has that on it, so thats the album. I don't hate the song either.

What was the story there? Mary J had it removed for 'personal reasons' or just thought it was horrible?

Let me guess, Pitchfork trashed it. Not giving them my click to find out, everyone is entitled to their opinion but I can't stand that site.

Pitchfork review didn’t trash it that much. 6.5 felt low but this is pitchfork so it’s okay. the actual review seem mostly positive, just said the rhymes and some beats were better on previous albums but mostly good for how long he rapping

I know it’s probably not your type of music but …

I just heard Echoes ft Beyoncé from Travis album produced by HitBoy :wow: :wow: :wow:.

He murdered that…

MIXING AND MASTERING MATTERS

Every instrument is living
Every sound is pumping
The clarity
The drums knocking
The vocals cut through

Fire David Kim :camby:

Esco deserves pristine clarity

David Kim did his thing on the previous 4 projects

I understand he was rushed, and actually … I’m not sure why he was rushed since this was virtually a surprise release … what timeline were they trying to meet ?

But, I don’t think any of the whole 5 album run is mixed well … .. Maybe KD2.
I haven’t really felt any of the albums suffered from terrible mixing. Kd3 sounded pretty crisp to me. The Magic serious is supposed to sound a little more rugged. But everyone hears things differently.

I like 3 songs on that list MOB Still Dreaming Black Republican was cool kinda a let down. I think I just higher expectations for the album. Just overall wasn't what it could've been imo

Absolutely Nothing let down about BR

That is pure King Pharaoh god body music

If that shyt don't give you images of being serenaded by your people as you glide triumphantly on a chariot.....

Back then I was rolling a Lexus 460 . (The interior of that car was something special) Playing Black Republican made me feel like Black Royalty.

Exactly the vibe L E S was going for .... triumphant, victorious, elegance, happiness

She didn't want to apart of the Nas/Jay beef. Her appearing on Nas album might've made it seem like she picked a side

I always thought it was sth like the song actually has a sample or something in it that Roc-A-Fella or Def Jam owned the rights to, so Nas had it taken off.

Those years were something else man :russ:

Scarface made sure to feature both on his album just to show neutrality.

Nas original verse on In-Between Us was dissing Jay and Face made Nas change it

She also stated that she was tired of labels/producers taking her vocals and placing them on tracks, without her permission. That seemed like the PR answer, but I think she later admitted that she didn't want to come across as choosing sides.

I’m not talking about the musical content of the album like the beats, songs, or Nas’ rapping.

I’m strictly talking mixing and mastering, he’s mixing these albums flat

I’ve been blaming Hitboy, but after hearing his works on Travis album, maybe I should blame David.

The difference in audio quality is undeniable.

Seems like Mike Dean mixed the HitBoy track on Travis' album. And Mike Dean did a HORRENDOUS job mixing the NASIR album.

no one was really saying nothing about the mixing on the previous joints and actually people had complimented how the mixing and beats were which is how dude got noticed
