That doesn’t make any sense to me whatsoever. So It Never Ends wasn’t “Anything Special” but supposedly Nas and Alc have the ability to knock out not one, but FOUR straight albums on the same level or better than that of three songs they did together TWENTY ONE YEARS AGO?!?!
We could do the “If Nas chose” game to the end of time. “If Nas chose to release I am as a double album in 99”. “If Nas chose to put Serious on Streets Disciple”. “If Nas chose to work with Premo in 05”. If If If. The fact is Nas chose what he chose from Alchemist for Lost Tape 2 and that pairing has been amongst the so called Nas fans most requested, and when it came out it wasn’t supported as people claimed it would be. Period. The album itself, chalk FULL of production that so called fans claimed they wanted wasn’t supported. But the Hit Boy produced albums HAVE been and there is verifiable evidence to prove it. There is no evidence whatsoever to support FORCING Nas to work with Alchemist (because thats exactly what he would be doing if he left what he and Hit Boy have accomplished) there’s no numbers. There’s no acclaim. There’s obviously not that much passion for his production or else they’d have more than FOUR songs together in twenty one years.
So again, i don’t see the point. All factors lead to this NOT being a dream collab more than the opposite
It makes perfect sense you can’t judge these things over one track, if I was to judge Nas and Hitboy off EPMD that was done before KD1 I wouldn’t think there partnership was anything special either, a throwaway track for a mixtape style album isn’t enough to draw conclusions.
I’m judging ALC still being able to produce great tracks of Nas based on tracks he was producing for other great rappers just this and last year, not necessarily what him and Nas done 20 years ago, I’m saying AlC is still proving to be a premier producer in this current day and age something tou can’t say for Premo or Pete Rock, let him and Nas lock in the studio for numerous tracks and I wouldn’t expect anything less than greatness because they have a history of doing just that when put in those same environments.
Also no one is forcing anyone to do anything it’s just a discussion, your point about acclaim also doesn’t resonate with me, if your standards of acclaim is Grammy awards and commercials then we’re already going down a slippery slope since there are so many rappers with more Grammys and commercial acclaim than Nas, Gods son and Lost Tapes which ALC had production are very much so acclaimed amongst us fans and its part of the cornerstone which Nas built his career on when he was being mentioned as a GOAT long before he got a Grammy.
My way is acclaimed, Book of Rhymes is acclaimed, so is Revolutionary Warfare and so on.
