The polarity on the reception of this album is INSANE

I've seen stans hate it, hardcore critics love it, and a hell of a lot in the middle. Some say it's better than the first one, lol I just saw someone say it's better than LT(:russ: )

Was about to write same thing.it’s interesting to hear how polarising this album is.

My current view after playing it since it dropped is same as before. It’s a solid album but no song is making me want to rush back and listen. I don’t think the sequencing helps. I think it needed a stronger first track to pull you into the album better. Off the bat with last 4, Nas and Hit got you hooked in.

So sample packs are why Hip Hop has become so stale and repetitive. Alright that makes sense. I didn't know he was that lazy. No wonder I don't like Hitboy's individual albums.
From what I've seen sample packs started off with sound designers selling loops for a quick buck because it was an easy way to make some money by taking advantage of the millions of gullible beginners trying to become producers with 0 knowledge on some amateur hour shyt. Then after a while these same amateur producers started getting on with their shytty sample pack beats when the shytty amateur rappers they were working with started blowing up from soundcloud and youtube. When trap became the defacto production style sample packs became pretty mainstream because it was an easy way for these rappers to pump out a million songs that sound the same without having pay for sample clearance or find a producer with the talent to play something out. Now it's just every where.

If you hear 50 trap beats that all sound like the same hollow bullshyt, 99% chance it's just a sample pack melody with trap drums on top. It's one of the reason production has fallen off so hard in the last 5-10 years IMO.

I think I agree with 100% of the words on this post. Feel exactly the same. I think they got gassed up by the praises after Magic/KD3 and just dropped a half ass effort. Even Nas' brag is not "different" on here as opposed to usually when we all notice Nas brags different, over here it dull as fukk.

Agreed Slow it down is really the first moment where I "felt" something. It just hits you as soon as he kicks in. Nas is also excellent on Pistols but WTF is that melody for real? I can picture a kid playing it on a Playskool plastic piano...

And we can have this conversation in a week or 2 after the momentum bias is gone : out of 65 tracks released together so far, how many of Magic 2 tracks make your Nas/Hit top 30? Top 40?

Regarding the beat on Pistols that was a west coast 2pac sound which made sense since he’s rapping bout him. Felt like a death row east 2

And here we go with the nas stans who can't take any type of criticism towards their hero :mjlol: .....I'm sorry but this shyt is light. It is what it is. Nas and hitboy's chemistry just getting stale.

It's not even really a Nas thing. Cause these same rhymes over some alchemist and madlib could prolly be a classic. But Nas got a love affair with Hitboy for some reason. I gaurantee you somebody like 9th wonder could make a better album with Nas. Hitboy's shyt has no type of soul. Every beat sounds flat and he's not even improving. It almost feels like he's actually getting worse:what:

You Nas stans accuse people of not being sincere. But yall are the ones not being sincere. Calling every single album Nas drops a classic is not being sincere. I'm not about to lower my standards of what greatness is just because y'all can't admit this shyt is average:yeshrug:
This shyt trash
