Never agreed with that sentiment. You add bangers on every album unless you're doing some left shyt. Premo did Boom and Goldyn Chyld in 2002...you wouldn't put either on that album in replace of Zone Out or Warrior's Song? Obviously that album is dope as is, I'm just saying I'm not turning down classic tracks because my album is "somber" and I only want one street joint. Hell no lol. Stack those tracks. Outside of hits, they're the ones people remember 20 years later.
It's a hypothetical.
1) We don't even know if Premo would even make those for Nas in 2002. Would it even make the cut considering Nas cut several songs from God's Son because he was going after other artists by name on those songs. "Boom" came out before Stillmatic was released. I think the Ras Kass track did too.
2) There is a reason why God's Son is sequenced the way it is. I don't think it was coincidental that none of the Illmatic producers had a beat on that album. I think he purposely went in with the "I'm moving forward never backwards" mentality when he made that album because it is completely different from any album he did before it.
The more I think about it, I don't really see Premo helping Street's Disciple a whole lot either. It's a double album, so of course there's filler. It would have needed multiple Premo productions.
