Its funny I once said if I ever make a record, I'll take a check and put something away for a rainy day to make an exit

But look at me now, ten 30 years deep since the project bench with cracks in my sock sleep

I never asked to be top of rap's elite Just a ghetto child trying learn the craft of the streets

But look at me now

:wow:
You're da maan

"I'm on Fire" sounds like the spiritual successor to YDM.

Tryna walk in my soles is like bare feet on hot coals
Soon as I start heatin' up, the whole block froze
I came in without an ordinary name, how many Nasirs?
How many top tier? How many not here?
There's something in the name that's different from theirs
Depicted in scripture holdin' two dragons blowin' flames
Sorry it ain't go the same for y'all
They say Allah, please explain Allah
You Godbody or do you praise Allah?
And still rock crosses all on your chain a lot

One of the best aspects of Nas catalog is he's never tried to recreate the sound or vibe of previous albums. Every project brings something unique to the table. Even the KD-Magic series none of them are overly similar. Probably the only one that brought nothing fresh far as sound or perspective was Nasir and that was basically a rush job EP done to fulfill a contract

But comparing 19-20 year old still living in the projects (Illmatic) to gangster film on wax (IWW) to pissed off world's against me (Stillmatic) to Moms just passed (God's Son) to rich 40 year old going through a divorce (LIG) to elder statesman looking back and toasting his current prosperity (KD series) just not necessary, they all bring value
Nasir doesn’t sound like anything Nas has made either, for example the Adam and Eve instrumental.

I'm tryna think about this objectively. And a get the hype of the greatness and novelty of KD3 but saying KD3>> GodSon is a REACH. I'd put Get Down, Made You Look , Book of Rhymes and Rev Warfare up against any 4 on whatever ESCO album
