Disrespecting the greatness of KD bc KD 2 is so dope is very weird. These type of Nas fans are no better than his worst critics who always try to downplay his music bc nothing equals to Illmatic. Let KD be its masterpiece and accept that KD 2 is its own work of art. No need to downgrade one to uplift the other. Nas & Hitboy created two great separate albums that don’t need to be compared.

It’s bizarre. This is how people think they are being contemporary and relevant all the while betraying their casual status.

I'll admit this was alot harder than I thought. I think the matchups are mostly on point.

The two washes I had came down to the production vs lyrics. Example: Gimme the bars on King's Disease over the production of The Pressure.

But as you said, leaving off count me in and especially Composure really weakens KD2. But both very dope albums.

I'm not going to lie KD2 definitely made me downgrade KD1 to a 3.5. I still love some of its highs like Car 85 and The Cure for example but overall. KD2 is just far more consistent with high level songs. The beats and Nas' rhymes were both better fused this time.

Bruh this album ain’t a replacement, it’s a new entry. U don’t have to downgrade one of em to give the other a higher rating. Lol

And it's also recently bias that we all fall victim to at times. But 5 years from now King's Disease 2 will be 5 years old and King's Disease will be 6 years old so that bias won't exist. I also think Kings Disease 2 is a better album but King's Disease is right behind it.. It's different levels of classics obviously. Yes Stillmatic is a classic but Illmatic is a better classic. Stillmatic may be a 5 while Illmatic is a 7. We just stop the scales at 5 mics. Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis were getting 50s in the dunk contest but Vince Carter was really getting 60s. But just for fun here's a song by song versus since this is a topic. Obviously every song won't match up with each other because the content is different but some songs are comparable depending on features, content, etc.. And yes 2 good songs have to be left off because King's Disease 2 cuz its the longer album plus the shorter songs may hurt Kings Disease in this match up

Still trying to figure out if i can do better, but here's mine : i didn't try to trim it down to only 10/12 songs to try to get a "perfect" or top3 nas album, cause in my mind nothing he does now can top his 1991/2002 run, just tried to fit in the most quality music from these 2 albums

Besides the first few tracks, it was actually tough to fit in some of KD1's tracks because i just love the flow of KD2. Didn't manage to add Spicy here, even though i think it's an important "moment" of KD1, and one of the tracks that'll get the most love at concerts out of both albums.

I like KD2 more but I can understand people who like KD1 more as it’s a smoother and shorter listen.

That's the problem with clowns calling an album a classic as soon as it releases. Cuz now nobody knows what an actual classic is.. You gotta let time pass to truly digest the quality of a project.

i like both albums alot but kd2 is better top to bottom..production was better hands down...yktv is not better than spicy and replace me is better than brunch on sundays as the 2 more commercial tracks go
