Its a pattern that happens most with Nas albums. Pple were knocking down God's Son and Untitled when LIG came out.
I think its because of ranking his albums against his previous work and not the current album on its own merits that brings those retractions most times.
Its the same way peolple cant bring themselves to admit that son has more than 5 classics
Rank the albums and see if your number 5 & 6 best nas albums arent better than other artists' best 1,2 or 3

Been askin the same thing this past week in this thread after seeing pple try to knock down KD1Only Nas fans will drop a rating of an album because they doubted he can come with a better album, so they think "oh Kings Disease must of not been that good then"
been reading some of the slander with a
face. If you go to the KD1 thread you see the praise the album got on release even from those who dont rate Nas that much.

It's a Twilight Zone in here, quite frankly disgusting. Go to that KD1 thread and they calling it a Classic
How in the fukk did it went from a Classic to not a classic
But anyways KD2 is a great album but KD1 is a classic to Me.
Nas classic albums to me and I don't include Lost Tapes or Distant Relatives

Disrespecting the greatness of KD bc KD 2 is so dope is very weird. These type of Nas fans are no better than his worst critics who always try to downplay his music bc nothing equals to Illmatic. Let KD be its masterpiece and accept that KD 2 is its own work of art. No need to downgrade one to uplift the other. Nas & Hitboy created two great separate albums that don’t need to be compared.

See, now that i've had much more time to indulge in the album, i get what some of the minority of haters are talking about. In the past few albums, Nas hasn't had that POWERFUL STREET record that he's always had on the majority of his albums. He don't have that NYSOM, that Nas is like, that "The flyest", "Loco motive". This is where Premier would fit perfectly on the next album, cuz really, i think that's HitBoy's only flaw. He can't recreate that NY SOUND that Nas provides at least once in all of his albums. I mean, i don't really care for it too much at this point in his career, but for those saying "Nas ain't the same, he needs so and so" at least one street record will get these dudes to stfu a bit
i hear you. but i dont think thats what Nas n Hitboy are trying to achieve with their sound on these projects.
i you remember LIG had a balance with the gritty Ny staff but Nas was saying back then (locomotive) its for my stuck in the 90's fans.
Hitboy is actually more versatile than he is getting credit for.
LT2 had balance in abundance but we all know how that turned out. And fans and critics will be 1st to say he is regressing if Nas goes back to that style.
Are they really not going to do any interviews for this album? 
I don't even think they need to do it for promotion, because word of mouth seems to be working. But I'm curious about the thought process behind some of these songs.

You do realize the albums have the same title right... why are yall surprised people are comparing the two especially when they dropped a year apart??Just because people think KD2 is better (which it is, much better) doesn't mean they are shytting on KD1.
Part of what makes albums classic is standing the test of time. The longer you have to sit with an album you gain perspective on its quality compared to the other albums from that artist.
KD1 wasn't ever a classic and people who overrated it before are realizing the flaws with it now that KD2 dropped.
With that being said... BOTH are very solid projects that should be respected for what they are. Dope ass Nas albums

Personally this is the first time I've felt that way. I cant speak for anyone else but i still prefer LiG to KD. I dont downgrade any predecessors when a new one comes out. I just feel this way about this specific albums KD and KD2.

Word Up! A Classic is a Classic! That's like people saying Off The Wall is not a Classic because of Thriller, crazy shyt. This is the first time I seen this shyt, I never seen this from Biggie Fan's, Tupac Fan's, Jay Z fan's, Marshall Fans or any other hip hop fans of a Group or Emcee, but Nas Stans are something else

And it's also recently bias that we all fall victim to at times. But 5 years from now King's Disease 2 will be 5 years old and King's Disease will be 6 years old so that bias won't exist. I also think Kings Disease 2 is a better album but King's Disease is right behind it.. It's different levels of classics obviously. Yes Stillmatic is a classic but Illmatic is a better classic. Stillmatic may be a 5 while Illmatic is a 7. We just stop the scales at 5 mics. Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis were getting 50s in the dunk contest but Vince Carter was really getting 60s. But just for fun here's a song by song versus since this is a topic. Obviously every song won't match up with each other because the content is different but some songs are comparable depending on features, content, etc.. And yes 2 good songs have to be left off because King's Disease 2 cuz its the longer album plus the shorter songs may hurt Kings Disease in this match up
