I wouldn’t call Wale or Freddie “Legacy” acts, and elder statesmen rappers like Jada and Raekwon are still rapping at a high level that they deserve top notch production to go with their rhymes.

Maybe i’m just at a point where i’m not impressed with any of the newer guys to really care but i’d be much more hype to get a Raekwon album over some fire Hit Boy production than I would be to hear any of the new generation outside of…. Yea none of them

Wale is damn near 15 years in the game fam. Gibbs is a bit newer but from the blog era, he's 10+ years in.

That very same displeasure you had in your post for the new generation comes from guys like Hit-Boy not coming in, rein them in and build quality product. I want to see him try to build from the ground up with someone who has legit talent.

SINY!!
You can tell Nas is SUPER proud of this album. He NEVER posts about sales numbers or chart positions EVER.

When Hip Hop Is Dead outperformed ALL predictions and sold 356k first week and was number 1 he was asked about the impressive first week and all he said was “I don’t care” lol.

Its good to see Nas flossing his success a bit. People forget how he’s genuinely one of the most consistently successful rappers of ALL time. People give Hov all the credit in the world for being sales consistent but ignore the fact that Nas had a run of EIGHT STRAIGHT platinum albums from 94-2006. Which includes 6 number 1 charting projects/

Hip-Hop needs artists like Nas to keep going strong. When you look at other genres, the acts that have been doing it for decades are held in high regard, still have a large fanbase.....a fanbase that will cop merchandise, sellout shows, etc. Hip-Hop fans tend to disregard/disrepect legends. Artists like Nas are important to the longevity of Hip-Hop as a viable art form. Even with all that Hip-Hop has achieved, there are those who view it as a whole with a great deal of skepticism.

I think Hit Boy is going to be Nas' right-hand man for the time being, but I wouldn't want him to be his only producer. That implies that Nas can't make music on this level with anyone else. Salaam Remi was Nas' right-hand man for years, so it all depends on what he's inspired by.

DJ Premier used to have guaranteed placements on Nas albums, but that was twenty years ago. L.E.S. used to be a frequent collaborator, but he hasn't done anything since Hip Hop is Dead. No I.D. could always give Nas something great in the future. And there's always Swizz, RZA, Alchemist.......a lot of options to choose from.

So we could get King's Disease III, but in a few years, Nas could be working with completely different people. Only time will tell.

I think after Jay went with NO ID, Nas backed off him.

Nas gave L.E.S the M O T H E R of ALL looks by having him produce the first official Nas/Jay-Z collaboration song. That nikka can brag on that for the REST of his life

I highly doubt that has anything to do with Nas not working with him. Nas and Jay’s production choices have overlapped quite frequently in the past decade or so. Doubt Nas cares. He’s just in a different space musically.

Not yet. We should know by tomorrow.

The fact he’s number 1 across ALL streaming services including Spotify bodes extremely well for him. Top 3 debut is looking very realistic

was kd1 looking this good as well at first as far as charts?

That's fire for him...but why do we care about this?

I guess I can understand, feels good to see your favorite MC still makin some mean cash and be successful...but it always seemed crazy to me. I'm a fan, wtf do I care about the album sales and social media engagements and what who is saying about the album and all that? Unless you work for the label or are involved with making the album, just focus on the shyt being excellent.

Yall probably really gonna be upset if it doesn't sell what you're hoping...like you got quotas to meet up at Mass Appeal and shyt, :russ:. Nas probably sittin on 100 millys...trust me, he will be okay either way.

He was number 1 on itunes the whole week and briefly number 1 on Apple Music before falling to top 5 If I remember correctly.

He was NOT number 1 on Spotify. Which makes this a game changer. And he didn’t have any singles in the top Apple charts whereas right now he has YKTV at number 30 and EPMD 2 at 36.

I don't see it. 444 came out in 2017 and since then No ID has been running labels and shyt. I just assume they haven't had time to reconnect, not that Nas is veering away from him.

In terms of another album...I wouldn't mind seeing it be a collaborative effort with multiple producers, but Hit Boy exec producing. Basically send your beats to the squad and let's see who makes the cut. Just Blaze, Jake One, Justice League, Jake One, Premo, Salaam...lets go. And of course Hit would have most of the beats.
