I think Pac would be a full time Academy award winning actor at this point in life. I just can’t picture him rapping on a track with Lil Uzi in 2021.

true, he might've went Will smith/cube on us and become full time actor...but i denno I think he'd still drop tracks and give some younger westcoast cats some shine.

in a different time line I could see him giving Game some shine

then game would fukk it up and start dissing

I’m impressed that Nas could prosper so much as a business man and still keep this level of hunger as an artist.

It’s almost unheard of.

Cube became a mogul and his art suffered. Kanye got rich and turned into a weirdo. Nas seems like he really still cares about his “day job”. And he doesn’t really have to at this point.

Cube found a different artistic outlet in movies. Ye in fashion. Luckily for us, Nas sucks as an actor and doesn’t have another artistic outlet. :ahh:

The cool thing to me is that I think a lot of us really wanted Nas to find a producer to really put his faith in, and vibe with, and just kind of let a producer take over and craft a sound for Nas to go in on. And I think it's really dope that it ended up being someone that basically no one would have suggested or predicted.

Everyone had been screaming for Primo, Large Pro, Pete Rock, Alc, LES, Kanye, 9th Wonder, etc, and everyone was kinda overlooking some newer producers. And then after the Kanye album, I think a lot of us were let down. I was real skeptical when I saw Hit-Boy was doing a full album with Nas and was happily surprised.

I love how this isn't a combo that was expected. 9/10 people that'll tell you they were really hoping these 2 would link up for 2 full albums are lying to you.

Thats why its important for Nas to say “fukk the Fans” and follow his own heart. Large Professor ain’t making beats like THIS in 2021. Nas got not one but TWO dope ass beats from Pete Rock in 2019 and the songs and project got shyt on. Premier has been stuck on the same sound since 2005. Every rapper 9th Wonder works on a full project with not named Rapsody can’t stand him. Alchemist lowkey is nothing more than vanilla Madlib and the ACTUAL Madlib struggles to get projects released because he can’t even remember what samples he’s using…

The fact of the matter is that the ONLY producer you listed capable of giving Nas a fresh sound thats tailored so perfectly to his flow and strengths IS ironically enough Kanye West. And when Kanye got HIS chance he went full retard and fumbled the ball.

Nas choosing Hit Boy was a stroke of pure artistic genius, and Nas should be commended JUST like he was wisely selected the production group for Illmatic. Nas has had some of the greatest foresight in Hip Hop history. Linking up with MC Serch. Linking up with Steve Stoute. Allowing the Trackmasters to handle the bulk of the production on It Was Written. The IDEA of The Firm (even if the end result was mixed) Not rushing headfirst into the battle with Jay and being strategic enough to engage Hov when NAS had the advantage. Working with Will I Am on Hip Hop Is Dead. Hiring Anthony Selah as his manager. Soooo many great industry decisions he’s made over the course of thirty years.

Good point. Never looked at it that way

:ohhh:

Jay and Nas never really fell off as emcees because it’s been their only creative outlet.

Nas wrote, produced, and did the voice over narration for an Emmy award winning documentary on amputee soccer players in Africa. He’s got PLENTY of artistic outlets if he so desires.
