For me Nastradamus stands out because it is one of the few times in his career that Nas is legit WACK on a song (Big Girl Now).
What I love about him is that he takes swings and even though he doesn't always hit (sticking to Nastradamus: the Nastradamus single, New World Order and to some extent You Owe Me) I at least respect it. Big Girl Now is a song I mightve legit listened to twice in my life, and the second time must've been because I was incapable of skipping it somehow. It's lazy and just plain bad, nothing works well in that song.
The HIGHS of Nastradamus are incredible, better than anything on some of his other albums (SD/HHID/NASIR) but those albums don't have a Big Girl Now. Can't think of another Nas song that's just so fukking bad.
The fact that this is the first time a lot of "us" had to deal with a Nas song like that is why Nastradamus gets the rep of being his low point. The fact that, to me at least, there's songs on there that someone like Jay-Z has never reached on his best day get muddled because of this.
It's the same reason I gave KD the nod over LIFE IS GOOD in the other thread; it's just hard to get over sth like SUMMER ON SMASH. Spicy gets a pass because it's labeled a bonus track. And I fukks with Spicy and SOS isn't on the same low level as BGN.
