Nas was on Common’s Podcast. A few cliffnotes

-The Wild Style sample used on Illmatic was from an actual VHS copy that Nas owned that he brought to the studio

-Columbia almost dropped him in 92 because he was spending too much time in the streets and not recording

-Says that if he could work with any artist it would be Marvin Gaye. Says that Life Is Good is his version of Here, My Dear.

-Says that one movie he wishes he could have been in was “Lady Sings The Blues”

-His first favorite rappers were Kurtis Blow and T La Rock

-Said he knew that both Pac and Biggie would be surprised that he worked with Dr Dre

-Says that he was at a concert one night and the crowd was so into Mase that he thought Mase would take over and that everyone else’s career was over

-Says that if Biggie and Pac were alive today they’d all play Spades together

-Says the funniest comedians are Larry David, Adam Sandler, and his favorite is Dave Chappelle

At the end Common says that Nas is one of the greatest writers of the generation

:russ: my youngest daughter uses my spotify more than I do, she has heaps of Disney stuff all in my top songs and artists for the year but Nas was the only one of mine that still showed up on the year in review.
