Yeah Im still confused at the anti-women theory critics say this album has. Its not on Till the War is Won, It aint on All Bad, it aint even on Replace Me

Writers are dangerously projecting
They been projecting about Nas since IWW & Nas still standing strong. They just trying a new failed tactic.

i have never underestimated the machinery in the f*cknas coalition,
i have lived to see albums that were inferior to It Was Written being re-rated to 5mics and classic status
i have seen the same review mags pretend as if they didnt rate some of his work besides illmatic as superior or classic n
continue to regurgitate the 'Since illmatic...illmatic shadow' narrative every time they review a completely different album.
now its its a toss up between that and the kelis talk.
Nas's Catalogue was GOAT status b4 2011 and he has added superior works through LIG, LT2 and KD to it since then.

i'ld say Fck the Critics but that wld be elevating em, when they are not critics, they are haters/ mean muggers with a platform to vent

Cool fun fact

Nas is nominated for best rap album. He was nominated in that category back in the ‘90s, wasn’t he?

He was. Nas was first nominated for best rap album in the 1999 awards year for I Am…, which allows him to set a new record for the longest span of best rap album nominations (22 years). He swipes the title from Jay-Z, who was first nominated in 1998 (Vol. 2..Hard Knock Life) and was nominated most recently in 2017 with 4:44 (a 20-year span). Nas’ nominated album this year is King’s Disease.

Nas is never getting a grammy fams. Lol. It is what it is at this point. He’s not a critic darling.

Critical acclaim has NOTHING to do with the Grammy’s fam.

Nas had the most critically acclaimed rap album amongst the nominees in 2013 but lost out to Take Care.

This time around Nas is most popular name of the nominees. Has the most brand recognition. AND for the first time he has the highest charting and selling album of the nominees.

He’s going to win

I was listening to Alfredo again and man...hard for me to imagine some non-rap fan enjoying the album. It’s great to me but it’s so...hip hop and vulgar that I def think it’ll receive the least votes. Just from a musicality perspective, King’s Disease is the clear winner. You can imagine non-rap fans enjoying it.

It’s all politics fam and Nas doesn’t play the game. It is what it is I would care more but I don’t give a fukk about a Grammy. Nas is in good company of legends who never won.

Nas is the GOAT regardless of he wins or not

And your right he doesn’t play the “game”

But you know who DOES play it?

Anthony Selah and he plays it well

What respect does Nas need from a hater that writes for Complex, Rolling Stone or any other music publication outlet? Nas has the respect from the people that matter. Nas endorsement deals, investment deals, music career or person life is not determined by these haters. Nas is very well respected in the entertainment & business industry. Nas has always ignored the negative as much as possible. When he address an issue it’s on his terms.
I disagree with u 1000% on this.. Not squashing some of these narratives is why the Nas raps on bad beats narrative is such a popular opinion. Media will always influence the opinion of people those are just facts.. We're not going to be around forever so while we're here the narrative on his career needs to be protected and told better by his team.. Nas is too laid back to flatout do it himself.. I don't wanna read about Nas 30 years from now from a 20 year old writing yea he was a great lyricist but his production was bad and sometimes he had smoke for women on his albums lol

Is Alfredo really ALL that vulgar? Maybe i’ve been desensitized because I listen to so much hip hop but the album didn’t really strike me as all that crass

I was listening to it imagining what a non-rap fan might think. To me personally it’s not vulgar but like...imagine some random Grammy voter sitting through the Something To Rap About intro, hearing...and I quote:

nikka
bytch
nikka bytch
Ooogie boogie nikka
:mjlol:

I think Nas will come in first, Jay Elect second.
