The only thing I hated about Reach Out was as someone else mentioned before on another thread, did we really need another Ike's Theme sample? Granted the song is not a bad song, and fits in with the rest of the album considering it's a 90's themed record. It's just as relevant to the album as Loco-Motive, or the scratching on A Queens Story, or even the Guy sample on Bye Baby. The Ike's Theme sample is some 80's/90's shyt so it's in harmony with the overall theme, it's just a redundent sample IMO.

Summer On Smash can be placed right next to You Owe Me.

Let's be real you guys hate Swizz Beatz thats the only justification for disliking "Summer On Smash" you made alll types of excuses to excuse "Reach Out", but gave no valid reason to dislike "Summer On Smash"

How? If someone were to say Pirates was a weak track and didn't belong on the album I wouldn't come up with all types of excuses for it and say it belonged or something. Summer on Smash is unanimously considered to be a wack track to everyone, but these die hard stans. A bad song is a bad song. I'm not built like you stans:stopitslime:

didn't you make a thread about gfid being the album of the year? everybody thinks their fav rapper's good shyt is the album of the year. i don't see a difference.

Nas just keeps eating :wow:

That divorce with Kelis gave him a new outlook on life and as a result he is putting out his best shyt since 10 years ago

That's why he's the GOAT in my eyes but unfortunately he won't be recognized by the masses as the GOAT until he dies god forbid that being any time soon :snoop:

I like Swizz Beatz, but being honest I would have preferred Top Down over Summer on Smash. Top Down might be an old azz track and I believed another artist rhymed over that anyway, but it would have been more in harmony with the overall album tone than Summer on Smash.

:whew: That's crazy ya'll made this thread. I was looking at that Bye Baby video and talkin to my nikkas like... THAT'S HOW U MAKE CLASSICS

It's like he jumped off the album cover and painted a picture. You would have to be a straight zombie with no soul not to relate to the artistry of this video and the overall job he did with LIG. And this is coming from someone who was skeptical of the album initially.

40 some odd blunts and a few Gunplay sessions later I'm like...

Nas won. :jawalrus:

Breh there isn't a song that "fits" on the album
How many styles and sounds did Nas have in those 5 beginning tracks alone?

One thing an artist can do is feed off some diferent muzik and vibe with it....
Sting said in an interview like 15 years ago that suffering makes great ART!
And even if you in a position where you be eatin' great - HUNGER SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN! You just have to remind yaself what it is for other people in other situations and here it is - INSPIRATION!
Nas album is pure art - I salute him for that step!

Shyt's a classic to me :yeshrug:

Almost 40 still look like he's 20, because he does something he truly enjoys and it shows in the music.

:umad:

But I think this is what people are identifying with. It's been a long time people heard a lyricist rap with such passion. Even people who aren't Nas fans feel it. Is every song perfect no but this is arguably his best album since Stillmatic and maybe a little more consistent and his most personal since Gods Son. There are at least 6 or 7 classics on this album, 5 great songs, 2 good ones and 2 average or a little below joints to me, but right now this is easily the best album of 2012 and it's not really close.

This is my problem with you Nas stans. So many of you are obviously not too savvy on modern hip hop. A lot of you don't even like modern hip hop yet say shyt like that.
