I mean look at this dude, he is EVERYWHERE right now. It's like he has a new love for Hip-Hop. This nikka is seriously grinding...shooting dope videos, dropping dope features and just looking as young and fresh as ever, like he's just getting started. This proves to me a couple of things...

1. Hip-Hop will never outgrow the legends of the game. There will always be a place for them.

2. Like I said in that T.I. thread...I guess sometimes a nikka just need new life experiences to gain a breath of fresh air to kick-start that creative flow again which can ultimately lead to them gaining a new subject matter that will bring them back to the spotlight.

After 20 years in the game, this nikka was able to drop a major label album, which after all is said and done, will do well in the mainstream. And he didn't have to "sell out," nor make forced pop records or jump on the latest trend to do it.

I agree.

that's why artists like TI and Rick Ross and Lil Wayne need to get with the times.

Rap about yall personal life and shyt.

you're gonna fall off if you keep rapping about your money, skateboard, not going to jail, crab meats, drugs etc.

I agree, but they just don't have anything else to give/say right now. As crazy as it sounds...these nikkas need to live a little :mindblown:. When I say that...I mean, go out and do new shyt (other than spending money lavishly), and gain new experiences in life, which would ultimately cultivate in them bringing more to their music.

Wayne raps about skateboaridng but we dont want to hear that shyt

he shoulda really talked about his jail sentence, who he met, what it taught him, being away from his kids, his visitors, etc...:ooh:

he got so much to say but just scratches the surface most of the time

Maybe it's something about facing hard times with your woman that motivates you to shine...

We saw the same thing with Common after Erykah Badu then he drops BE and has a successful acting career...

:noah:

When Kim shyts on Kanye he gonna come back to the community and get on that College Dropout

:wow:

T.I. needs to get rid of Tiny and give us a Trap Music sequel

:whew:

good hip hop>> healthy relationships

Did not sound forced. A forced song usually contains a verse that seems like the artist doesn't even try to flow or match the song, but Nas nailed it. Say what you want about the song in general, but it was definitely not forced for the most part (that Miguel bridge at the end did seem like "whatever just put it in" even though it was hot)

:comeon: That song fit in as much as Lamar Odom did at the Mavs. That shyt was completely out of left field. Maybe the song itself didn't sound forced, but it being on the album was forced.

I see where the thread starter mean, but I got to disagree.

Nas is a "special case" in my eyes. The cat did had his sellout phase, but even his sellout phase he managed to come with some greats songs and the jay z beef coupled with a regain in his artistic standards managed to keep him in the radar.

What Nas have that a lot of artists don't have it's he like sade or bjork, he have that type of myticism and a loyal fan base. That mean he will not sell like the current superstars, but there's always be an anticipation for his work and decent records sales no matter the record industry climate.

It's that thing that also allows him to not drop records for two or three years without having to promote himself like a bytch. But this time it helped that Nas got a little more exposure than usual, but it was made in a good way: more videos, more concerts, more communication (specially via social networks), more appearances in big projects.

Then you got cats like Jay who will sell no matter the quality of there products because of their name. But here it's the shame because a cat like Jay still follow the trend when he no longer have to

And then you have the others, the new cats or the older big sellers (nelly, ti, young jeezy, luda, ect) who to be back will be forced to deliver great singles or at least singles that work sand blasts radio, but that's hard to do now without making the last soup hip hop bullshyt and sellout

I don't feel that way. People gotta realize that in this day and age in 2012, if you're signed to a major record label, expect to have at least 3 songs of or relating to a commercial sound. Summer on Smash was necessary for the album, just like The Don & Nasty. It just fukked up the flow because it was right after World's An Addiction, whereas it should have been included right after or before The Don/Reach Out/Nasty.
