Hate Me Now was still a good song and went hard imo, people just didn't like the direction/materialism from Nas. But a lot of rappers have done the same shyt so I don't see why people hate on Nas for it. Has there been any top rapper to not brag about money and what not?
And while Nastradamus and I Am do have some bad tracks and aren't solid albums front to back, they still have a lot of quality shyt worth remembering. I'll take both albums over Street's Disciple (although this could've been better if it was condensed), Untitled, and LIG (I'm one of the few that can't really get into this album, I find it boring). Probably over HHID too.

Nah bruh...this album (I Am) to me was his most well rounded and versatile album TO DATE in my opinion. It had the radio friendly track (Kissing), street single (Nas is Like) down south collabo with Scarface, and then your typical Nas. It's my favorite Nas album so yea i'ma bit bias

i think it is the album that re-introduced nas to the mainstream after his three year hiatus.
nas was definitely one of the top men of hip hop at this point!!!!

Wasn't that a review of the OG version tho? It think it was, I remember the same thing happened when they reviewed a OG version of Murda Muzik and also gave it 4.5 mics, IIRC. The OG version of both of those albums were much better than we actually got as the retail.
