The point is there are flashes of Nas at his absolute best on I Am. You can’t say the same for Vol 2.

They are both uneven albums. The highs on I Am are much higher.

And Nas is Like > Hard Knock Life by the widest possible margin.

However I Am..is still a solid album thou.

If we're turning this into a Vol. 2 vs. I Am, it's basically a greatest hits compilation vs a Best of. I mean, I Am definitely isn't Nas's best album, but some of his best songs are on it. Vol. 2 doean't contain Jay's biggest hits, but his biggest hits up to that point are on it.

Volume 2 worked way better in real time than I Am did. Jay is simply better at the balancing act street/radio. And Jay was rapping his ass off from the entire 1996-1999. There’s nothing even remotely as embarrassing as Nas’ lows on I Am found on volume 2.

I thought people hated Nastradamus and not I Am.

BTW the original versions of I Am and Murda Muzik that got reviewed in The Source were better than the retail versions. They got leaked early because of Napster.

If you listen to Lost Tapes by Nas some of those songs were for the original version of I Am.

The retail version is still dope. There's a lot on there I like but some of it I hate.
