It has a few okay songs. Didn't like it at all when i got it. It was all over and had no direction. Bad executive producing. (Which I wouldn't have said in that way back then.)
He was trying to go more pop at the time which is more accepted now. He went from his first two albums to having Southern sounding songs, a lazy flow, too many guests, r&b spots etc. Scarface and Nas should have brought something it was average. Nas and Aaliyah was average. Sub par beats from Dame Grease
Plus with people like six july and Nashiem Myrick on their you were expecting heat. And after the first two albums hearing all those keyboard sounds and weak drums was awful. Source review didn't mean much at all by that point.
the 13 song bootleg was cool but still not great. That's the one i had first. Hearing Nas sing Kurtis Blow and rap on keyboards was too much. Music Transitioned around then to that sound so it may not be as shocking now.
I remember playing You Wanna Play Rough or whatever it was called a lot. Good song.
Plus he was killing shyt on his freestyles on mixtapes the year or two before. So even Nas was a let down rapping.
