Also, when people talk about the double album and make track lists, "The Curse" is never included on those tracklists. That song was apart of the album. I don't think it exists in full, but you hear the fade out of "Hate Me Now" at the beginning. I remember the snippet being highly coveted on the old Nas message board. There was a fan at a Nas Q&A session who asked Nas about the song and Nas was in awe that people even knew the song existed.

He used the verse on Killah Priest’s album circa 05

Mass Appeal needs to do more of these covering Nas' albums. They need to explore what he was thinking before, during and even after the conception and making of these albums.

I've always said this. At that time, NY backpackers started to hate on Nas after IWW. For the life of me, I'll never understand why they wanted a second Illmatic when IWW is arguably one of the greatest mafioso themed albums of all time.

I Am had some classic songs, but it's a 4 to me at most. A few fillers I hated. But again, I distinctly remember how huge Hate Me Now was in the South, & I had no clue that the "purist" hated it back in 99.

There were like 3 different versions of I Am. The Source reviewed one of the advance copies. Remember, the early bootleg had ish like Amongst Kings, and a later one had Hate Me Now. Sometimes I Wonder also wasn't on one of them. This clearly says "I Am...The Autobiography". Y'all about to make me pull out my Source mags.

That would have been my first resort, needs to be that way to set history straight or else the cycle on misinformation on the internet continues.

Absolutely...as its been pointed out, how many people would have really downloaded it in 98 anyway? A couple thousand tops? And only 13 songs got leaked anyway, not the full original double album

I blame Stoute and Sony, they was probably in Nas ear too much pushing him in the wrong direction

We still got a dope album overall but goddamn what it could have been
Bootleg CDs, hundreds of thousands sold on the skreets you moron

Nas most underrated album and easily his most balanced album. It has something for every Nas fan. Street shyt, poetic shyt, club shyt, conscious shyt, political shyt, storytelling shyt, radio shyt. All executed to the highest quality. The bootleg myth kind of puts dim light on the album imo. I call it a myth because it featured 0 singles that would’ve pushed the album to its commercial success. 4.5 Mics well deserved
Hate Me Now wasn't on the advance/original?

Just because an album had 4.5 mics in the source doesn't make it universally that good. Source isn't the holy grail of reviews.

Tf, Stillmatic had only one wack cut

You didn't comprehend well.
I was referencing the usual angst with EVERY nas release. That's the norm for nas albums.

The only album that didn't go through that was the first one

Amongst Kings wasn’t on the bootleg I had.
