Vol 1 and 3 are better than 2, all of them are good. Jays only weedplates are KC and MCHG

Vol 1 isn't a weedplate.
Vol 3 Jay was spitting but the songs weren't that memorable for some reason (production?)
Dynasty is hard to grade since Jay makes up 25-30% of the album.
BP3 wasn't a weedplate but the tail of the album was weaker than the start and middle.

this isn't a nas hate thread, he is #2 on my top mc list right after pac, but I have to call a spade a spade

Nastradamus
streets disciple
hip hop is dead
******
nasir

:scust:

but this same nikka hit us with greatness like

illmatic
it was written
I am
stillmatic
lost tapea
gods son
distinct relatives
life is god

:magnifico:

nikka is feast or famine either he will drop a classic or near classic or give you more shyt than sodomy
Nastradamus and Streets disciple the only one i agree on. Sonically I wish Nas went a different direction with hip hop is dead with the exception of a few records. That would have been the perfect album to go to premo, no ID, large etc.. especially with the title being so strong. so i think he missed the mark on that some what. Nasir has dope records you can tell it was down in shorter period of time though. Nas isn’t that type of artist to create fast like that.

For Jay, BP 2, BP 3 and KC are what I'd consider "weed plates".

Nas has about 5-6 of those at least.

Their discographies in that regard are not comparable.

The albums y’all call weed plates still have classic songs on them

Street Disciple is trash but Just a Moment is classic

Nasir isn’t great but has good moments the 4-6 are dope and the first song is good.

HHID and Untitled are dope but I admit that may be unbiased

Only agree with the bold, but, Nastradamus is cool in the context of it originally being a double disc.

SD and HHID has some of the dopest Nas songs of his career

N*gger is just different for a Nas album.

That's exactly how I feel. :ohhh:

Listening to it, the album feels different from anything else Nas has done. It might be a mixture of working with different producers that he only linked up with on this album (Jay Electronica, Cool & Dre, stic.man from Dead Prez) and the song concepts (You Can't Stop Us Now, Sly Fox, Testify, Fried Chicken, Project Roach, Black President). This album just feels and sounds like it has something really important and uncomfortable to say about what it means to be a black person in America, and that puts it in a place that other Nas albums aren't in.

You’re holding these legends to a higher standard by calling albums like untitled or vol 1 weed plates. Because honestly those albums are probably better than most current rappers best efforts.

But lets play along for the sake of playing along. I’ll say anything less than 4 mics is a weak effort or “weed plate”.

Nas- nastradamus, streets disciple,
Jay- vol 3, dynasty, bp 3, mcgh, kc,
Em- every album other than MMLP which i think is very overrated btw, is weed plate. But he’s not a top 10 to me so I won’t say he has the most weed plates. Same with snoop

I’m gonna have to go with my man cube, it hurts to say this because he’s my top 5 favorite mc of all time, he dropped 3 solo classics in a row. Then he dropped dud after dud, raw footage was probably his best effort since lethal injection but even that was a 3.5 mic at best

Mostly agreed but I'll def take Vol 1 over overrated ass Vol 2, that album is a fukkin dog frisbee...Vol 1 maybe a little inconsistent but it also got A Million and One Questions, Imaginary Player, Where I'm From and You Must Love Me which are fire
