breh bar none neji's fight with kidomaru was the most well thought out in the entire series. kidomaru was actually smart and he didn't get dumbed down in order for neji to win. when he realized it would be suicide to fight close range he adjusted and tested neji's range of vision. and neji himself was smart realizing that he couldn't get close without being sniped he stayed put and got hit where he would take the least amount of damage and took advantage. and the death scene between the two of themWondering how Shikamaru was going to connect his shadow

This manga had so many classic fights. The trump cards, cliffhangers, and jutsu analysis were what had you fiending for the next chapter. What happened to Kishi? All these power ups, explosions, and flashbacks are just to hide his laziness to write/draw a well thought out fight. He's probably burnt out and doesn't care anymore. I've been reading since 1999. It wasn't supposed to go out like this
kidomaru didn't have a change of heart and they were taking shots at eachother the entire time.

One of the premiere battles in Part I. Realistically, only the end of Team 7 vs Zabuza/Haku, Sasuke v Oro, Gaara v Lee, Neji vs Kidou, Lee/Gaara v Kimmimaro and Sasuke v Naruto were worth being invested in. Everything about that whole exchange was a great point in the series. Animation wise, technique reveals, character development, sense of desperation, a great death, a powerful pyrrhic victory and no TnJ. Neji was about giving that work and Kidoumaru was with the shyts. This series had so much potential that has been squandered away. Kishi is a fukkboy.

This is when I became a big Neji fan. He didn't get rattled, thought everything out & was able to come away with the win. Kishi really did him a disservice by forgetting about him until the war. He was the genius of the Hyuga clan, the only one to become a Jonin of the Konoha 11 during the timeskip & should have been on par with Naruto & Sasuke when it comes to strength.
