So you're telling me that Obito had 3 eyes then? He'd have used the only eye he had left for that. Which means no space-time dojutsu for him.

Also, remember that old maxim, "Just because I've taught you everything you know, doesn't mean I've taught you everything I know?" Minato probably never had reason to show them Hiraishin level 2 (probably never had reason to, due to how feared he was and it seeming like more of a one-on-one technique). Remember, Naruto didn't really know anything about Senjutsu until Fukusaku told him, not Jiraiya.

(Not that I think it's Obito or anything...)

Izanagi resets all injuries the only thing that changes is the eye closing. We've seen it against Konan and Danzo against Sas. All they do is imagine themselves back to safety and they're there. Danzo was recovering from Sasuke completely destroying his entire body. Why would Obito recovering an eye be ridiculous?

That old maxim was proven wrong multiple times in this series. None of the students have been surprised when their teachers break out their big gun techniques. They go on S ranked missions together so it's not like they're ever gonna hold back. Not only that the other ninjas in the village are aware of everyone's techniques. It's not a competition within the village like it is outside.

I think you guys are looking too deep into it. He could just have Obito's eye...just like Kakashi does.

It would be ridiculous because it goes completely against what the technique is about. Whenever Danzo used it, he lost an eye. When Tobi used it, he lost an eye. If Obito used it at that time, he'd have lost an eye, forever. The VERY SAME EYE that we're talking about now. We've seen no indication that these eyes can be recovered...not even a guy with Uchiha and Senju cells (Danzo, hell Tobi too) could do it.

Naruto knew nothing of Kakashi knowing Rasengan. Now, the CONTEMPORARIES know of the teacher's techniques (Like when Guy used Hirudora), but not the students. Name an example of a teacher pulling out an S-level technique out of nowhere (Not Hiraishin, since that was during wartime and a staple of why Minato was so famous. Another example in the realtime of the series) and the student being completely knowledgeable about it.

Which is what I think.

Hell, what I'm thinking it is is that Tobi's a Zetsu clone that copied Madara and took Obito's eye (which has obvious problems with how strong Madara really is, but...) or a Shouten clone of Madara that took Obito's eye and/or used Obito's body as the sacrifice (Which is more workable, since that only consists of replicating 30% of the chakra).

There are other problems with this theory (mainly with Tobi's sentience of personality), but I'm not ready to just say it's Obito until more evidence appears.

Ironically you named guy as an example of contemporaries knowing when he's also the example of his students not being surprised about morning peacock

and danzo didn't "lose" an eye. The eye closed. It didn't didn't. It just became useless. All of the other eyes were regained. This move alone wouldn't destroyed EVERY SINGLE EYE on both of Danzo's arms

So would this.....

but just a couple pages later you see him chilling with everything intact with only the eyes closed that used the technique

1). Okay, just checking. Doesn't mean that it would apply in every scenario. Same with my conception.

2). I was talking about the eye that used Izanagi, not any other eyes that the user had on them. The eye that is used can't be recovered, as far as we know. Which is why I said they the idea that Obito (if he is Tobi) used Izanagi to escape is a ridiculous one, because then he'd lose the eye with the connection to Kakashi's Sharingan.

That is, unless, Kishimoto makes up an explanation...

Tobi had two sharigans when he fought Konan. He used Izanagi once.

After the battle he replaced an eye with the Rinnegan.

When Danzo used Izanagi, the eyes closed. Tobi's did not.

The one hole of his mask that is open, is always a sharigan. After he did the Izanagi his mask broke and we saw his other eye.

It was another sharigan. BOTH eyes are sharigan. NONE were closed after the Izanagi.
