Obito was a total incompetent during Kakashi Gaiden, and the 9 Tails attack was a year after that. Being a full grown man and being able to square with Minato would be preposterous.

you need to re-read kakashi gaiden. Obito came unto his own near the end after his sharingan activated.

OK, he went from incompetent to semi-incompetent when the Sharingan activated.

It would still be beyond preposterous for him to become Tobi in a year's time, and we're going to get a preposterous explanation for it.

Oh yeah, and Itachi at 13 (ANBU captain) and Obito at 13 (Dead last in his own team) aren't even remotely comparable.

Whoever Tobi is, I think it has something to do with time travel at this point. We've seen damn near every type of jutsu you can think of, except one that involves time travel.

Considering his clan members are always getting ridiculous cheat codes and people getting major power ups in short amounts of time (ex stealing eyes), I don't think it is preposterous for him to be obito

The way he was completely unprepared for the Fourth's lightning flash technique wouldn't add up though...He'd been on missions with dude and was trained by him, shoulda at least known what was coming before he caught a rasengan to the spine.

I see that fight differently. I think tobi knew all about minatos moves. I just think he got over confident, thought he had the fight won after minato made his move and was just caught off guard.
