I don't even think that's the issue. He could've mentioned both but I think he mentioned race because he didn't want to come across like he's avoiding the topic. He needs to learn and/or articulate himself better but i think this only comes with conversations and advice from the right folks on how to.
Calling a white person racist to white people who are is seen as calling them straight up devils even if all you mean is some of the core prejudices they hold are in fact racist even if they think they're innocent.
I think the issue is people treat racist sentiments as a personal failure rather than a societal ill.

He's trying to win not be right, see my first post. I don't have a problem with someone tricking racists into voting for them. Especially if they champion the right policies.
Establishment democrats lost over 800 state seats and 13 governorships during Obama’s tenure ... the largest shift in power since Eisenhower ... then topped it off by running one of the most unpopular candidates of all time who eventually lost to a fukking reality tv show star and muthafukkas talking about tone deaf
