oh im just generally a music history nerd. paul c fascinated me as soon as i learned about him (pharoahe monch is one of my favorite emcees so i was reading about him and found paul mckasty from the S2P days) and his murder really fukked me up! but he seemed to train a militia of soldiers on that sp-12 - didnt he teach erick sermon large professor? online i saw gossip saying his wife was involved with his death over money but hell, who knows?

stories like that fascinate me. the 'what could have been' stories. but i will say, what paul c could've been makes me sad as hell.

terminator x is still out there somewhere, too. probably raising some goofy ass llamas in north carolina. i mean if thats his dream, FINE. but he deprived the world of his talent!

stuff like this is what i read

Props.

@Art Barr these are the best links i can dig up on Paul C. i know you already know who he was, but for others, he mentored large professor on the sp-12 and sp-1200. im pretty sure he still has his floppy disks to this day! and his work with ultramagnetic, latifah, s2p (soon to be organized konfusion). man i wonder what kinda records woulda came out if paul c lived. i love the organized konfusion trilogy (pharoahe stays in my top 10 to this day)

but the track where he sampled rahzel without telling him was sick as hell! from what i read, paul c had rahzel beatbox into a mic for the sampler and basically recorded his bass notes and then replayed it himself to the 'brick house' melody. and its tight as hell lol. released in 87 so likely recorded in 86. its kinda wild to think shyt like this came out before criminal minded!

anyways sorry for the rant. i love 70s and 80s hiphop and i devour everything i can read about it.

but i do think youre wrong about quik @Art Barr lol

time will tell!

I wish everyone applied themselves to really rap better but they don't.

Being who i am.

I am not ever giving passes.
I am the protege of the best cali emcee ever tho.
Plus the goat emcee frfr.
So it is not like i am ever speaking out of turn.

Rap would not be a commercial draw. If not for the pedigree from where i come from.
Plus i am actualized in a grassroots level in every possible way.

Not being malicipus. Just discussing the facts, culture and skill level outputs.

As usually. It just leads in one direction.

Dare Iz A Darkside even though the guy that made it hates it :manny:

Most recently, Pink Siifu's GUMBO! which is so criminally slept on

im just a music fan man

if theyre dope theyre dope. my music collection goes from autechre to zappa, frank

im pretty open to ANYTHING in music.. the only things that really offend me is shyt like 'bro country' and taylor swift style pop

even electronic music is kinda disappointing these days. i do like richard james when he pops out on occasion but i miss guys like trent reznor. this economy practically demands a new NIN or ministry album lol

meanwhile

Supppsed to be a new nin score album for some movie coming out soon.
I forgot what movie ad i saw. That actually mentioned new music by nin on the ad.

So new nin is coming out.
Nin = my favorite industrial band. Sheit imo trent is the only industrial band.
Trent is my favorite rock producer easy. I just honestly loathe those johnny cash covers. They are horrible. Ranging from off beat and out of pocket tp juat horrifically bad. I know why they are a drae. Just wish they were not a draw.
Or some studio manager on quality would make cash work with higher quality.
Past that. I listen to any nin i csn get my hands on. I even got the old school small disc album Formats of broken and fixed.

I am good.

On him and joe budden eternal.

Maybe i will sneak a dj quik spin of tonight.
weirdly in the future. Past that.. i am totally good.

If i wanna pass the time in music.

I just turn on some juice.
I am nOt gonna torture myself.
listening to inferior skilled artistry.
When i already lived better.
I have to listen to the low quality stuff to do reviews. Sohh in my personal spins. I am not going to spin some shyt.
that irks me at all.

I stay in the fun zone daily. Like i was at a dem dare party in 92.

Sohh not trying to be immersed with stuff.
that does not make me.
the happiest in my personal listening.

right on man i like trent too. his ghost series was amazing. i grew up in the 90s on a steady diet of punk rock, industrial, glitch, and hiphop.

one thing i always wondered... why isnt math rap a thing? y'know how most rock songs are in 3/4, 4/4 time? post punk and indie bands started recording songs in weird time signatures like 5/4 7/4 11/8 and so on. its what became known as 'progressive rock'

if i could wish something into existence it would be progressive rap! imagine emcees working on their bars so they can spit in 5 and 7! that sounds sick as hell lol.

i would like to see your top 10 if you got one @Art Barr

i do top 10s of emcees, then top 10s of album emcees and so on. but im a weirdo that sits here thinking about this shyt for hours haha. i know aceyalone has a few songs in 6/8 and el-p did one song in 5/4. mazbou q might be one of the few cats ive found out there trying stuff out with new math.. i wonder what you think of stuff like this art

i think if rap broke out of 4/4 and 6/8 we could see some incredible records.

the thing is theres no such thing as a 12th note so i might wanna watch it again idk

being an emcee is about closing out on the breaks. Sohh moving to far away from the 4/4 break is a bit counter productive. Yet it is all still 4/4 even if you chsnge the scale. Double time is already made with this ideal. Where i am not a fan of the pigeon hole of all rap being double time. As i never seen no double time emcee off the head be overly nice all the time. Sohh i am not for moving around in that manner of time. Especially when most rapper have not mastered the break to begin with.

Not immune. To seeing this in nature tho.
the first people i ever saw worK in this ideal was bon n nip.
Way before i heard anyone try it past simple double time.

Eminem did this on kill you.
I feel pac kinda rhymed in this manner as his general thug life deathrow skillset too.
Sohh it is there in the marketplace.

Like generally there in the market place.
from pac fans work who bite pac.
