the problem is the clipse made a wack album, period.

which is so offbrand it departs away from what they were marketing themselves as on wgi4c.

the album was shelved for a reason. it was not blackb*stard kmd shelved. it was shelved cause it was huff.
you give them a glorious pass i do not.

also,...the production is offbrand departure away.

from what their sound and genre is like electric circus.

they also do not rap as well as common did on ec either.

which is the other issue. as wgi4c is light years better lyrically than this album.


this album was worse than jr writer's major label record. as it departed away from the wb mixtape series.

unlike jr,..these dudes are not cold emcees like that, lyrically.

plus they never got back to what was lordwilling to wgi4c afterwards, either.

Queen Latifah - Started out pro-black, pro-female empowerment HipHop. Ended up a
spokes-token for CoverGirl, a company that perpetuates the white standard of female beauty. I won't even get into her wack attempt at being a pop singer.

Fat Joe - Has a list of brainless crossover songs as long as my arm. But you give him a pass for his past work/affiliations.

Idk why you keep bringing up Electric Circus as if HHNF is some genre bending experiment of an album. It isn't. But, at the same time...it doesn't sound like the typical dopeboy record. Well, guess what? Neither does Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. That's these albums' appeal.

You have a very rigid idea of what HipHop is and at the same time cherrypick to whom you apply these ideas.

And you have a personal bias against the Clipse. It's cool, I hate TI for no reason so I recognized the signs.

Strangely enough I though Black Girl lost was a good fit, I thought Street Dreams and If I ruled the World and the Firm track threw the album off for me. Yes, even with those problems a car can be great if the total package is greater than its individual parts, say for instance the car in question is an Acura NSX, then even with it's flaws (it's still a great car, if you can take the time to fix it) it will certainly be worth much more than the money you put into fixing it, feel me. It Was Written is not a perfect album and it was slammed when it dropped, it has it's flaws, but it's still a great album.

I think Black Girl lost is a classic song, but it would fit more with another Nas album, Street Dreams, and Affirmative action had the mafioso theme to it, and If I ruled the world to me was Nas's hustler character getting in touch with his conscious self, I see where you coming from with the car analogy, for instance I bought a Monte Carlo this year, and the car was giving me serious issues, head gasket blew, my sensors were off, the brakes went bad, car would always overheat, If I was to sell it with all those problems, it wouldn't be considered great, thats what I was trying to get with the previous poster, he mentioned that the album was great, showed no examples, but mentioned a plethora of flaws, which is a contradiction. But I can see where you coming from though :shake:
