I came to post this. Its the blue print for all the southern trap/dope boy rap you're hearing today.

:comeon: I love Ridin Dirty, but really the late 90's Three Six and CMR is the main blueprint for trap shyt (production wise). RD beats were more sample based and didn't really use alot of futuristic synths,808's and fast paced hi-hats.

Somebody like 2 Chainz,Gucci or Future could rap on that today and nikkas would be like :whoo:

Mannie in his prime was just :ahh:

Juvenile - Rich nikkaz (Feat. Turk, Lil Wayne Paparus) - YouTube

i was referring to the subject matter more so than the beats.

You just proved the point I was trying to make..
Not saying Chapter 2:World Domination is better than OB4CL,it just wouldn't sound out of place if it dropped today..

Yeah, I messed up the meaning. There's some confusion with the terms here.

There's different reasons why things are dated.

If it's "today's music" with yesterday's sound, it remains fashionable. That makes it vintage like a fine wine.

If it's "yesterday's music" with today's sound, it sounds more different than dated. It's still fresh, but with a different flavor. It doesn't sound outdated unless it was played out.

The worst is having "yesterday's music" and sound. Except for classics, they are totally unfashionable and sound primitive musically, conceptually, and sonically. Musical antiques in every sense. Truly outdated.

Whoa whoa whoa...If we talmbat production, I think Dirty Money sounds more up-to-date from them.

But you know what might be the actual production blueprint for today's trap-rap?

Clearly "Life After Death" as many are saying. You could drop "Mo Money, Mo Problems, Sky's the Limit and Hypnotize" and they would be hit #1 songs in this climate. The production sounds like it was done yesterday. You telling me "I love the Dough, Notorious Thugs" couldn't work on today's radio? The album has not aged one bit and it's been 15 years. It's 2012 and I can't put a single rap album over "Life After Death" that dropped this year. This LP again hasn't aged at all, it's scary how much it has held up. Actually I would say the Big 3 from Bad Boy 97 all aged pretty well with "No Way Out and Harlem World".

How exactly does something sound dated, it's either good or not. Anyone who pays any type of real attention to music, could tell when most music was made. Cause every era has a sound, style or production technique.

Some albums are just going to sound dated because they are the essence of that era that they came from....for better or for worst. 90s dated music > most of early 00s dated music. Illmatic & Ready to Die are classics, but they clearly sound dated, as does Enter the Wu-Tang, Tical..The Chronic is borderline to me

Here are some though
Wu-Forever - of they didn't say that they next album wasn't coming out until 2000, you would not be able to place it.
It Was Written - so polished
Hell On Earth
Murda Muzik
Infamous
Muddy Waters
Life After Death
Bow Down
Ironman
Atliens
Aquemini
9 Lives - but AZ been making the same album over and over again
Supreme Clientele
Warriorz
ELE
The Carnival is a forgotten hip-hop album that doesn't sound dated
