he does kiss the butts of a certain group but i full heartedly expected this. blacks are stricter on blacks to try and prove to non-blacks that they are unbiased and "one of them" however, that same statement can be applied to negroes judging obama. clinton wasn't great and you guys don't judge him instead he's treated like some type of honorary negro


i also don't get comparing nigerians to african americans. if a large path to gettng to america is a student visa, then a lot of the nigerian american population will be students or with degrees. they won't be a random or representative population that can be realistically compared to a group that aren't immigrants, like african americans.

This is unfair. The economy as a whole received a major spike during Clinton's second term, and as participants in the economy Black people's fortunes as a collective improved --- but it wasnt owed to anything Clinton did for the Black community specifically. It was simply a period where for the first time since the 70s, and the last, from 95-01, the trend of income distribution growing for the rich, exclusively were reversed, as middle class income actually kept pace with productivity growth. For that Clinton deserves credit, but lets not conflate that with Clinton being an ally to us over Obama.

As said by another poster, incarceration rates for Blacks expanded under Clinton, and NAFTA and welfare reform were also passed under his administration which would injure the black community post-clinton. He also allowed for the CRA to be weakened, which would grease the skids for the housing sector collapse which Obama inherited, in addition with a banking implosion.

This past year was the highest graduating rate in ages. I notice alot of you continue to hype up Clinton like some god when he actually didn't do much at all for you as you may think.

Goldie Taylor was on Martin Bashir on MSNBC yesterday and pretty much admitted what was always argued about how LBJ's policies actually set blacks even further because we used to once have the highest marriage rates in the country and had everything going for us especially with graduation rates.

Clinton pretty much caused the same step back with welfare reform(waits for the most people who are on welfare are white argument)

If Clinton had a Democratic Senate and the Lewinsky Scandal did not happen what do you seriously think He would have done? The same health care reform Obama did? What do you possibly think he would have done

The unemployment was down for EVERYONE during that time. That was our biggest golden decade since the 50s. Use common sense obviosly if the unemployment is so down nationally it woulld be also down for blacks. I mean are you serious right now?

If we are going through a tech boom and everyone is making $ and hiring why would blacks be left out? Did Clinton say oh and make sure blacks have the highest unemployment rates in history?

The sad thing however is we may put those two presidents on as so wonderful for us and don't realize the damage done. The links I saw said graduation rates for students were the highest in decades recently. I just didn't remember if that also applied to blacks.

Btw the economy was improving every year since January 91 but it wasn't exactly booming..and clinton was trying to find a way for it just not to be good but for it to start booming, and this started happening around 96(exactly what he said at the DNC convention last year).

But that boom in 96 as people repeat over and over again but folks don't listen was directly because of the dot com bubble/tech boom
