This is gonna seem like a Dr. X type rant. I know all the militants are raging mad ready to neg off the thread title alone.. but we need to address the REAL.
Every week there's a thread about black folks needing to stick together, support black businesses, do like the asians and jews do and keep our money within our community, etc... but truth be told, that stuff ain't ever happening. Reason being because we're simply complacent with just getting by and doing what feels good. A lot of us come from single parent homes, and if not, have a lot of friends/family that have and had to learn to raise ourselves. A lot of us grew up watching TV and idolizing our favorite rappers, athletes, actors, singers, etc. A lot of us grew up idolizing the dope boys and the gangstas that got all the love and play with the ladies. It's like the more ignorant you are, the more our women love us and the more we're idolized, adored and appreciated. The more intelligent you are the more "different" and "weird" you are and become isolated by your own people.
But anyways to keep things short, this is why we're a lost cause. There are so many successful rich and famous black people here in America. There's honestly NO reason why we can't start up another Black Wall Street and combat the systematic white supremacy. We're in a better position now more than we've ever been all throughout history to get our shyt together. But instead, all our black athletes and entertainers who are making millions of dollars a year are spending it on jewelry, cars, clothes to impress other black people cuz we all know what our favorite past time is. I listen to Jay's 4:44 album and I'm more frustrated and annoyed that it took him til he was 47 years old and dried up to finally make "woke" music with substance and content we can actually use to uplift our communities and build. Oh, I get it. Now that he's done flossing and stunting and telling us how rich he is in every song, now he wanna try something different. All while he's had this information all along for the 20 years he's been in the game. This is why I always said Nas > Jay-Z, but that's a whole other thread.
There's literally no excuse why we can't be greater than we are even with coming from poverty and single parent homes. Imagine if Drake, Future, Yachty, Wayne, Thug, Savage, all these new rappers these kids idolize made being smart and intelligent the "cool" thing to be? But no, instead it's taking drugs, spending money to floss, being promiscuous, being angry and violent is the cool thing to be. It's what makes our women love us, our men inspire us, and the rest of the world hate us. It's why we have trouble getting housing, get discriminated against at places of business, and why we can't simply get ahead without a fight. We can sit on thecoli all day and act like we're all gods and goddesses, kings and queens, etc... but the truth is we haven't been those for a long time. At least not here in America.
As much as the "white people are the enemy" rhetoric gets spewed around here, they actually aren't. At least not all of them. White people will at least hire you at a lot of places (except Jews). It's the arabs, asians, indians, and hispanics not looking to hire us, EVER! They stick amongst themselves, but they'll hire any other type of person before they hire us. We're the last option to them. I've worked over 20+ jobs and possibly have done more than 30-40+ job interviews and it's the white man or woman that usually hires me. It's the Hispanics, Arabs, Jews, Indians I faced the most discrimination with. Like no matter how impressive I was in the interview and how well qualified I am, I never get that call back by them, ever. And you know the funny thing about it? These people are jealous of us. Cuz only us black people can make millions of dollars and become hot shyt being rappers, athletes and entertainers. How many famous arab basketball/football players are there? Or famous asian actors/actresses compared to blacks? They envy us because they know what we're capable of. While some of they're families are struggling to get by with their laundromats, bodegas, and food stands, rappers like Meek and Future are out here stunting like Mayweather throwing money away on bullshyt. We got the more ignorant types like Blac Youngsta with all this money and still stupid as ever and that's gotta be frustrating to anyone watching.
All in all, we need to be better with our money. We need to stay woke. We need to educate our youth as early as possible about white supremacy and systematic racism. We need to open up black businesses, have owner ship over our assets. But until then, as long as we keep making being loud, dumb, ignorant, violent, sexual, and petty the cool thing to be, each generation is gonna grow up worst than the last. If we have more of our people of influence, the Jay's, Beyonce's, Rihanna's, Kanye's, Chris Brown's, Drake's, Future's be more positive, provide more positive and uplifting content. Of course we have artists and musicians that been on that shyt (Common, Talib, Mos Def, etc) but they're not as mainstream and don't have as much clout. We need to change the mainstream idea of what's cool and it starts with our mainstream celebrities and entertainers. America is all about Money and Entertainment (hence our President). Entertainers have more influence in our country more than anyone. And until our entertainers can provide more uplifting content and change the definition of what's cool, we're a lost cause. Lost cause as in we won't get to Black Wall Street even when it's so frustratingly at the palm of our hands. We might be able to get by and become successful individually, but as a group?
