No I rate romance movies and this one is pretty well done and it's aged terrifically.

The Picasso of the Ghetto
I don't like romance movies at all but Love and Basketball is fantastic. Feels more like a duel coming-of-age movie that a romance movie TBH, the movie arc follows how each of them grow as individuals more than it follows their relationship.
Watched it on a plane last year and it held up really well.

Not gonna lie, there's that moment every time they show him on the court where you're like, "Wait, shouldn't this be a scrappy guy trying to make it rather than a star prospect?"
But the chances of them finding an actor perfect for the role who also happens to be 6'3" are not in their favor.
The soundtrack and the fact that we saw rich black families is enough for it to be a classic. And act like they don’t have 5’ 10” basketball players. And act like we don’t leave women over some bullshyt. If you don’t like it I’m thinking you’re young and it wasn’t for you. Stick to 2000 and 2010 movies.
