My Soccer/Football brehs, why are there so many French-born/foreign-born African players?

Just noticed the surge of Euro-Africans in the last couple years.

You see a player with a FULL African name, assume they're from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, etc. You look at their POB and turns out they're from France or Belgium.

Look at the French National Team,

:dwillhuh:

France importing their talents from francophone Africa...

The after-effects of colonialism is real.

Shout outs to the African players that choose to play for their parent's country.

Are the likes of Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o , the Toure brothers, etc disappearing? :picard:

You realize this is almost as absurd as showing a picture of any American national team and being aghast at how many non-white people are on it, right?

The only one of those kids who wasn't born in France, to my knowledge, is Lemar, who was born in the Leeward Islands.

And not a single one of the African players you named were born in Europe and just up and decided to play for an African country. They're all born Africans.

America is a country composed of immigrants/colonizers/ex-slaves. Cacs are not indigenous to America. By definition America is not a white country, (as in having an ancestral cac ethno-state)

The natives are the original people of this land. Your comparison is poor.

A more better comparison would be like the Ghana team being composed of random Eastern European cacs.

Breh shut up.

I'm trying to have a curious, honest conversation about postcolonial sports and you came off the bat trying to battle me.

Are you black?

Bruh, you're entire stance is fukking idiotic. You have no point. There's no topic here.

France, a country with black people in it, currently has a majority black sports team. If these kids were all immigrants there could be some conversation but they're not. They're 1st, 2nd, even some 3rd generation immigrants. Born Frenchmen playing for the French team.

They have nothing to do with the African squads.

Man like Aubumeyang and Mane are still playing for their countries of birth.

Clearly I know what Francophone means.

The English team, the French team being majority black is a very RECENT thing, despite colonialism being old.

Things change, motives change when racial progress is made. It's not a lot, enough for them to field their best athletes besides at striker.

So you're saying these players have no conception of their ancestral heritage? I call that bluff.

Players like Benzema say they feel 100 percent Algerian but only play for France because of the better contract.

They were all born, raised, and have roots in France. They're French. Why wouldn't they play for France?

It's not a Diego Costa or Thiago Alcantara situation where they were like, "f#ck my native country, I want to play for Spain".

They're not "French". Europe's racism is self-evident. :mjlol:

Please don't be naive.

An African Zebra in Canada is still an African Zebra.
