Cats in here really rooting for the team to lose & for more injuries :scust:.

Definitely keeping posting in here to a minimum

I mean chasing 8th seed vs real team improvement shouldn't be a debate. Meaningless wins do nothing in the grand scale but stroke our fan egos

So what we learn from this one? Sometimes hustle can really make up for flaws. So KOQ gets benched for Willy and Plumlee, and those cats literally just outmuscled the C's typically effective dirty work players (like Marcus Smart)...and the Knicks would still have some busted looking rotations but they would actually sprint on close outs and lo and behold, Boston starts missing some three's. There were still plenty of mistakes, IT went OFF, the C's were in the bonus early every quarter after the first and the ugly TO's have pretty much become part of the team identity at this point...but the kids played with a grit and energy that the vets don't seem to have the legs for any more. The kids didn't expect the refs to bail them out, they just kept playing hard.

Rose: Well...spread the floor and this dude will eat off the high pick and roll all night. 13 for 24, 30 points, 10 boards, 5 assists plus a pair of steals and he blocked Olynyk (a 7 footer) twice off of baseline help in a single play. I complained about Hornacek leaving Rose on Schroder last game, well Horny adjusted and left Rose on Marcus Smart aka the weakest offensive link. Hopefully this will become a trend. Any time the C's got close, it was time to run a high pick and roll; and when KP gets back that should be a bread and butter attack if they're going to keep the floor spread (aka Joakim Noah cannot be out there cluttering things). On the bad side, the TO's continue to be an issue. He threw a couple of lazy passes and forced some stuff to the tune of 4 TO's, but he made up for it with all around game even if the assist:turnover ratio still needs work.

Baker: For the first 4 minutes or so, the Knicks defense looked good as Baker applied pressure to Thomas. But then Thomas adjusted with the horror movie audition technique. Dude took the Wade and Harden flop motion and added an array of "ouches," "ahhhh's," and "oh my gods" that the refs couldn't resist. That's no hate on Celtic Soulja Boy either, dude is 5 foot nothing but uses quickness, great finishing, good shooting and smart angles to score like an animal...but my God that dude gets whistles. Anyway Baker spent the game in foul trouble hell offering virtually nothing.

Melo: The C's have this dude's number, but in a new turn...they didn't get in his head. He didn't force 25 shots waiting for the refs to call a foul, he moved the ball without waiting for assist opportunities to make the pass and even though he put up a Paul Pierce last year stat-line; it's probably better than the alternative. He still managed to get mad at the refs over a whistle in his ear though. 5 of 14 for 13 points, 4 boards and three assists. Hard to comment on his defense, he looked solid defending PF's in the 1st half but got double team help in the second half that really made it hard to judge his post D.

Kuz: 17 points, 6 boards, 2 assists in 29 minutes on 50% from the field and 2/3 from three point land. If you're rooting for the tank, you want Lance taking this guy's minutes ASAP. His first couple of starts have been really impressive. He's combining with Melo to force a mismatch for either guy every night and while he's still flawed on defense...dude really works hard to make up for it at least a bit. His off ball movement and willingness to dribble at bigs who have to guard him (what up Amir Johnson) is a difference maker. The fact that he spreads the floor is big for Rose in PnR opportunities. Dude's not always gonna play this well, but his attributes and play style gels with our stars really well.

KOQ: Came out the gate lazy and got benched in the first half. Came out the gate dumb and got benched in the second half. He wasn't closing out or rotating hard, so Jeff threw in Plumlee on some "watch someone who tries now" in the first. Then in the third, Kyle decided to double Horford, who was having an abysmal game, on every single post-up. That lead to a ton of assists and easy buckets for Amir Johnson...and another benching for Kyle. Awful game.

BJ: Just one TO, let's start the celebration! Real talk, he played well. 11 points, 5 assists and 4 boards with the only stand out badness being a rushed pull up three he bricked in transition that set up a fast break for the C's. Other than that, Jennings played within himself and didn't really hurt the team anywhere.

Lee: 9 points, 8 boards and 7 assists to 0 TO's on 50% from the field. When you pair him with Holiday, the defense purs. We're talking BJ, Kuz and Willy were grouped with Lee and Holiday; but the defense still looked extremely strong. The second unit, which has more off ball movement and gets Lee the rock more often, really boosted this guy's impact on offense. It was his passing and attacking off the dribble that opened up pull ups and passing lanes. This is how you have a huge impact without scoring double digits.

Holiday: 13 points and 5 boards on 50% from the field. Dude makes some bone head passes (lobbing an alley-oop higher than the backboard to a big man with the wing span of Isaiah Thomas) but other than that, he does pretty much everything pretty well. Dude moves off the ball, has shot well and moves the rock when he blocked off. For defense, go back to the Courtney Lee comments. Holiday and Lee have a lot of similarities in doing the little stuff and not needing the rock, but they're just different enough to make really great compliments to each other.

Plumlord: The Knicks got themselves a doofy, bully straight out of Back to the Future fam. The C's especially Marcus Smart have made a habit of tearing the ball away from our bigs like it's nothing, but this dude Plumlee was Biff Tannen ripping through their arms like they were Michael J Fox...today. Seriously though, 5 points, 7 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks over a 20 minutes span where all of his 5 fouls were the physical type (as in he actually followed through instead of pulling back like every other Knick does every single time). Dude's mobility might be the closest thing to an answer for our awful pick and roll defense that we've got too; literally improving our chances by doing something as simple as consistently hedging before he follows his rolling big. He probably deserves more opportunities. You know he'll give it 110%.

Willy: 17 pts, 11 boards and a slew of changed shots where he went up straight to avoid getting whistled like everyone else was. For a slow footed cat, Willy runs the floor extremely well, picking up trailer dunks on a few plays. His post moves are pretty filthy; at one point, he pump faked Horford out of his "I'm officially overpaid now" sneakers. Defensively, Willy's slow moving but as he gets more into the flow of games he tends to let his IQ get him into motion quick enough to impact plays even if he's a bit late. Dude is also a nightmare to keep off the boards; fighting for position and going after everything on both ends. The slow feet make it hard to picture his defense ever being truly good, but he is capable of being competent and his offense is flat out good.

Hornacek: Okay, so Baker on Thomas didn't really work out, I still like the idea. Benching KOQ for poor effort was beautiful. Sticking to Lee with the second unit worked this time. He took advantage of a spread the floor grouping by letting Rose attack picks more often. Going to Plumlee for energy was risky and worked out too. Honestly...his best coached game in a while.

Blatant? So the refs and schedule are why the knicks stink? Coli logic.
Did I specifically say that? Also if you watch the Knicks it's very obvious how calls rarely go our way, look at Rose and Melo 2 stars that get don't get many calls with all the contact they receive in the paint.

Also which other team has 3 back to backs in the span of a week?

We 2.5 out of the 7th seed, and I would love to see our young cats get some playoff experience, which also is team improvement. And as of right now, the Knicks would have the 11th pick. Like I said before, having a lottery pick doesn't guarantee a star player. You can find some very talented players in the middle to late 1st round as well. But you cats have your hearts set on the "tanking" so I'll fall back from posting.

Also winning culture means our picks can develop faster. nikkas underestimate how being trash affects a team. Look at the kings they CONSTANTLY kill their own players development. Tanking isn't 100 proof and we already got a future hofer. Getting him playoff experience wouldn't be a horrible idea especially if we draft good. Great players can be found late in the draft you just need to ACTUALLY DEVELOP THEM. I think a winning culture must be established

I agree, but people see teams like Milwaukee & Philly & get hard ons for tanking. Their is no guarantee that 1) the high draft pick will be good, 2) the draft pick will stay in NY after their rookie deal is done. We've seen it over the years with big name free agents spurning us, playing in NYC isn't as enticing as it once was.

Yeah I think establishing a winning culture will attract more FA and help the rookies we do draft develop faster

I'm not so much set on tanking (I joke about it with Lance comments) but I'm completely set on giving the young players more minutes whether it means a better or worse team right now. If it means losses and a better pick, that's good news because we get a better young piece to work with KP and the young role players around him. If we start winning again, I'm never gonna complain about a playoff berth and seeing undrafted rookies and overseas rookies working out so well gives me hope that our scouts will get us quality. Just get the young guys minutes and it should be a win-win in the end.
