The ownership group and the executives of basketball operations in this team are an absolute joke. The impatient “fans” who wank in a sock over Melo are a joke. It’s time for a change New York, it’s time to stop delaying the proper rebuild we need. In the NBA in order to win a championship you need to bring in talented young players and give them time to develop into a contender, Look at the Cavaliers (Kyrie and Thompson), Spurs (Duncan and Parker) and Warriors (Curry and Thompson). In order to win a championship you need to allow at least 8-10 players to build chemistry over a period of time instead of making a large quantity of changes to the roster . Look at the Cavaliers, Spurs and Warriors success at doing this. We have our Tim Duncan (Porzingis) but it’s time to invest in youth, give them time, be brave and don’t pay attention to the impatient fans who couldn’t run a convenience store. Take a look at how Cashman is running the Yankees, bringing in heaps of youth who are showing a lot of promise and the fans are loving it. PLEASE START A REBUILD KNICKS! Going for Nerlens Noel would be a start.

I don't think tonight was about effort so much as it was about IQ and communication. You can hear Noah shouting to guys when to double, when to go under and when to fight through a screen...nobody else seems like they're talking. Rose and Lee got mangled by screens and I'm not sure if it's these guys not getting warned or if they're expecting a switch or harder hedge; but they got eaten alive (Lee stepped up in the second half to be fair). Offensively, the team didn't look bad at all in the first half but then the second half was a combination of stagnation and sloppy, misguided effort. Stagnation was Melo catching and going Iso as well as a complete lack of motion from his teammates (you can decide who to blame for that, I like to blame everyone). The misguided and sloppy ball was from that second unit which rushed and forced things even though they were clearly trying hard. Just a really awful showing outta these cats; it'll be interesting if this direction continues, what direction the trade rumors go in...should tell us a lot.
Agreed, there's a phrase that goes "work smarter, not harder" and i think that applied to not just this game but perhaps to their 3pt defense in general. There's just something fundamentally wrong with how they deal with screeners and 3 pt shooters. Even when the energy and effort is there, it doesn't matter how much emotion is being poured in if the opposing team can get open 3s at will.
They can't do any of this while Rambis is the defensive coordinator.

Like I know he is Phil's friend but your right they look lost out there and that points to Rambis needs to go :camby:
Knicks big men drifting to the paint when a team runs a pick n pop with a 3pt shooting stretch 4..... major miscommunication on how to handle off-ball screens...... no idea whose supposed to help and whose supposed to rotate over once the help comes on dribble drive penetration...

If Rambis is the coordinator then idk what the game plan is, bc i've seen this in the christmas game, the season opening game and a few other national televised gms / stuff i caught on league pass

I don't think I've ever rooted for a worse defensive team.

My God.

If this is the Melo we have, he needs to come off the bench.

We need to get a better defensive assistant coach like others have said. I still like Hornacek.

The experiment was fun while it lasted. :mjcry:
