You should realize the situation the Knicks could end up in is basically where the Pelicans are at now, but hey, that 5-8 seed was worth it.

We got our picks though and Melo expires in 2018. He does have a NTC, like I am a proponent of trading for youth, but we're not going to do that because Melo ain't leaving until the Knicks say "we aren't paying you big next contract but can move you to somewhere that will" in 2018. It looks like we'll keep our picks, keep Melo around until at least 2018, and then we'll see.....

Like Rose and the Knicks are a more interesting decision than Melo because a deal of 4 more years of Rose makes sense if the plan is not to rebuild in 2018 or is the plan to try and stay competitive going forward (which makes signing Rose not a bad idea if he can stay healthy). If the plan is to rebuild then they should go in another direction completely.

I also think they are going to make a run at CP3..... but after this year the era of FA leaving money on the table is likely over. The fact we even have all our future 1st rounders is something to celebrate Phil for. Even as the league is changing at least we got the option to focus on the draft.
