I remember "no one is taking a baby hands Tyson Chandler."

I remember "no one is taking Calderon."

I remember "there's no way yall going to upgrade the knicks point guard position."

I remember "there's no way Knicks will pick up young talent w/ such lack of picks."

So, regarding Joakim Noah... and his contract... Let's actually see what this offseason beholds before saying the albatross of his contract can't be moved.

Noah is at the start of his contract, Chandler was near the end of his. Contracts with years left on them are extremely hard to move, especially at a position that is deep.

You can't expect a team like the Knicks to win every game they're favored in on a road trip. There was bound to be a flat night or two.

As far as Melo goes -- He's shooting like 38% for the last two weeks. It is what it is. He is a star in decline, there are going to be more "meh" and "hey! not bad!" nights than "wow" nights. He'll be 33 at the end of the this season, and he is the second best player on the team. This team needs him to be above .500. Even with the trash defense and shooting, he's still commanding enough attention to allow Lee to get open shots, and Rose to ahve some space to work, and KP to get lesser defenders/more space as well. He frees these guys up

Besides, if he is traded (which seems unlikely, but not impossible) people have to understand what an expensive, aging star RETURNS in a trade. It will not be what he would have gotten the knicks 2-3 years ago. It'll be a solid prospect and/or some picks of varying value. And that is ABSENT him agreeing to the trade.

Think less about people like Myles Turner or Brooklyn's 1st,

And more about Demarre Carroll/Cory Joseph and a late first. Melo for Johnson/Jerebko/Marcus Smart -- Melo/Holiday for Randolph/Brandan Wright/Vince Carter and a pick -- Melo/Holiday for Parker, Pau or Green and Dejounte Murray or Jonathan Simmons plus the rights to another player or pick -- THAT is the kind of deal you get for Melo at this point. Not because "he's a bum" but because the market for him has diminished, and also HE has diminished. He is not playing great basketball right now. He probably has more value to the knicks, and trying to field a competitive team, than he does to most teams in the league.

I think it's better to set our eyes on the Warriors game, see how they respond to playing against such an overwhelming talent, than it is to argue about Melo trades, or Rose's new injury.

Breh...

Again, I'm not making an inch for inch comparison of the two contracts.

Please understand, I remember the way people claimed the moves I mentioned were not possible by the Knicks organization.

What I'm saying is, never understimate the ability to fleece another team in a trade.

At the time, when Timmy regressed, Knicks were able to trade him for Jerian Grant, who actually garnered talk that he could be a sleeper top PG in the draft.

"Anything is Possible!"

Unfortunately for yall that ain't the only albatross contract yall got. sMEL what I mean?
I think the jury is still out on whether that is a terrible contract.

I need to really look into other team threads and twitter mentions...

The Knicks are playing above everyone's expectations, haters and fans alike, yet, one loss in a Last 10 record of 6-4 garners franchise changing talk.

This is less of a complaint and more of a mysticism. I wonder what happens if Knicks make it to the second round of playoffs - do people say, "See, I knew they could make it to the Finals if it wasn't for that bum Melo."

Spooky.

Rose has already scored 200 points in the paint this season in the 670 minutes he played. In contrast, the Knicks’ starting point guard the last two seasons, Jose Calderon, scored a total of 128 points in the paint over 3,294 minutes from 2014 through 2016. Rose is on pace to score 780 points in the paint this season, which means he’d join Amar’e Stoudemire as just the second Knick this decade to score more than 700 points in the paint. In addition, Rose’s penetration does far more than just allow him to score; it creates space and stretches the defense, which puts his teammates in positions to succeed.

Rose is currently averaging 16.7 points, 4.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds. Only two Knicks point guards have averaged at least 16 points, four dimes and four boards over the course of a full season: Walt Frazier (eight times) and Mark Jackson (once)
