maybe Boston can take him to reunite with horford. Noah still is a better defender than they have backing up al.

Well, the Knicks showed up thinking a win would be handed to them again on a night when Hornacek had to really WANT the win. Watching bummy teams use physicality to completely fluster the Knicks offense for wins makes me completely reticent to comment on what the playoffs will be like for these guys...but there's that silver lining in the performances of KP and KOQ (and to some extent Courtney Lee also). The fact that KP turned a dirty play into motivation to dunk on a dude's neck and shoot in the man's face was a sign of true superstar mentality; something you don't see from MANY of the young cats in the NBA today who soften up or mentally collapse and force ish. KOQ just handled his business like he has been. But everything else was disappointing and I'd list it all but it'll fall into the player reviews instead. The Knicks were largely lethargic though, even after the dirty play fired up a couple of guys. They got eaten on fast breaks, they lost the battle on the boards, they shot miserably and if you thought standing around when Melo gets the ball was bad...late in a very tight game, KOQ got the ball in a post up against Tyson Chandler and 4 players stood on the perimeter watching him struggle with no kick out option to save him. That they almost pulled it out was equal parts, "well they are talented at least" and "maybe it's better they lose and realize they have to stop taking certain games for granted" for me.

Rose: 10 mins of ineffective play that makes a lot more sense when you realize he was having back spasms again. I'll give him a pass of course.

BJ: 1-6; 3 points and 5 assists in 28 minutes...just not enough production over that chunk of time when you factor in that he had more trouble getting through screens than anybody we've seen this season (and consider our team always struggles with screens). Jennings couldn't get fast breaks going and in the half court, without his shot falling there were just a lot of struggles for the guy. Bledsoe owned him.

Lee: 6-8, 14 pts, 2 asts, 2 boards, 2 steals and he had Booker looking like trash. While most of the team struggled, this guy stepped up and I actually felt like he deserved even more touches because Booker couldn't guard him but he still didn't force anything. So even in a disappointing game from most others, this dude was reliable as ever.

Melo: I've got two sides to my Melo criticism. For the better part of the first three quarters, he seemed to know he didn't have it. He wasn't forcing much, he moved the ball and he was a rebounding menace. Again, soft close outs on PJ Tucker are logical even if Tucker knocked down a couple of treys, you WANT Tucker shooting the ball instead of the other guys. Then the scuffle happened and while KP seemed poised to get after the Suns, Melo got protective and tried to take over instead. It was dad Melo and Welo at the same time; dad Welo. What really killed his offensive rhythm though was the fact that when he established deep post-ups, Tyson Chandler would time baseline doubles to the point where the shot clock forced Melo to shoot over the double. So Melo was off with his shot and being squeezed into double teamed attempts and it was ugly. This is twice now that a team with well timed baseline hard double teams was able to remove the threat of Melo in about a week. That said, the rest of Melo's game was respectable to good. 13 on 3-15 from the field (horrendous), 5 assists (good), 6 boards (respectable), 0 TO's (good) and he held Tucker to 3 of 10 if you remove the three fast break gimme's that weren't Melo's fault but the passers on each occasion.

KP: Chriss wanted to intimidate KP so bad and wound up getting abused, picking up a flagrant foul, getting dunked on and being saved by a bum whistle from being the guy KP destroyed to win the game. KP was a steady force through three and after the hard foul he took, KP was a dominant force...on both ends (again)! The only hole I saw in KP's game was that when he got PG switches, he settled for post-ups too high instead of bullying the little guys for deeper position and it meant he was ineffective against them. Other than that, he did a bit of everything. 34, 8 and 3 steals, 3 blocks. Stop here if you hate ref complaints, because I have a tangent about that last foul on Porzingis. So Holiday ran a fast break and his defender bodied him up low with plenty of contact before Chriss blocked the attempt from behind. The very next play, KP used similar body contact to create a more challenging attempt for Bledsoe and was fouled out of the game for it. This was after he made two major buckets for the Knicks in a tie game. I thought the refs were pretty good most of the night, but to foul out the guy who is carrying the away team on physicality you've been allowing all night...REALLY FRUSTRATING.

Noah: 8 points on 3-5 from the field, 8 boards, 3 assists...here's the good, some decent passes and a couple of forays into the paint since he was completely unguarded again and needed to do something. The bad erases that good and then some imo. First of all, Tyson Chandler didn't bother worrying about Noah, effectively taking away the paint from everyone else. Then you had 4 TO's and some ball holding moments where the defense sagging off of Noah took away his options. Finally, he was 2 for 7 from the free throw line in a game that went to over and then was lost. If he shoots even 50% from the line, the game is different and the Suns were happily giving him those FTA's which broke up offensive rhythm and actively gave the Suns a few pair of extra possessions. Hornacek needs to bench this man as soon as the Knicks are in the bonus and doing that reduces Noah from 22 minutes to playing around the same amount of minutes as millions of dollars he'll make this season. FML

Ron Baker: Ron Baker had a 1:1 assist to TO ratio (2 and 2) went 0-3 from the field and could barely get the ball across the half court line against a full court press...but he still posted a +8 on the night in spite of it. Why? Because Ron Baker fought through a few damned screens which forced the Suns ball handlers into uncomfortable shots and passes which in turn created a bunch of transition opportunities where KP and KOQ ate up unbalanced defenses plus drew fouls and got to the line. Was Baker good? I wouldn't categorize his game as that. Was his defense a game changer? They erased a 12 point deficit mostly with him out there. The Knicks need a third PG, preferably a guy who plays defense but handles the ball effectively. Baker needs to develop his ball handling to fit that niche.

Holiday: Holiday played well enough that Courtney Lee (look at Lee's numbers again real quick) was left on the bench for huge chunks of game including the come back run (hence the +/- for Lee). 8 pts, 3 asts, 1 board and his defense came on strong in the second half but to be objective, Barbosa crushed my guy for the most of the first half. The fact that Holiday adjusted and stopped that ugly ish from killing him in the second half was nice though.

Lance: Kinda invisible for 3 quarters (besides the last three pointer of the 3rd quarter). In the fourth, he stepped up like others and with the Suns forced to play real half court offense, Lance's defensive play started to stand out a lot more. He still doesn't provide much else, 6 points, 2 boards and 1 assist in 23 minutes...but that weird clutch stuff made another appearance.

KOQ: He played 28 minutes and I think at 35 minutes we'd have gotten a W. 22 points on 9-16, 14 boards (more than a quarter of our total) and 2 assists in that 28 minute run. He's one of the few Knicks who thrives on physicality, his worst moment was when Dudley jumped out of the way and pulled the chair out because KOQ chases contact violently even on offense. The Suns bigs kept getting caught up in the Noah gameplan and shading too far off of Kyle...so Kyle would look around, then knock down a free mid range jumper. At this point describing the positives of Kylo is becoming redundant and the real question is becoming "how much longer should we wait for Noah to figure it out before we just let this guy start?"

Kuz: Had one nice weakside rotation, missed some shots and just got nothing going in too short of a span to get mad about but enough time that Horny was justified to not bring him back in.

Hornacek: This dude is like the reverse Hulk, you can tell he's trying hard to compartmentalize his rage with that calm demeanor when the Knicks are struggling. Dexter face was on full show for most of this game and he did try a lot of things to get guys going but nothing worked. When something did work, he rode it out just a few possessions too long which is big in a OT loss. So Baker played 3 mins more than he should have and Jennings needed a breather in the second quarter and Melo was allowed to iso a couple times too many in the third. I liked that he set up a play where Kp would get the ball if Melo didn't get space for the last shot; I didn't like how much clock was lost running that off ball stuff before KP got the ball. Overall, a poor performance imo but Rose's back spasms likely threw off a lot of his rotation plans and options.

Random: Earl Watson did a pretty good job I thought which is funny because if you told me he'd be a head coach some day, I'd have made a joke about Rick Brunon and Moochie Norris being innovative coaches of the future too.

No one is advocating for trading Melo but he needs to get his head out his ass. Gat dammit Nikka u 32 and got a whole squad to back you up now! The fact that he gets doubled on every play is an advantage for us ! Dude would have 10+ assist a game if he'd stop that ISO Melo shyt

Now you know that's a damn lie, you might not be but there's plenty of people on here saying that shyt.

:ohhh:

With this logic... The Knicks beat the Lakers who beat the Warriors so according to this 14 year old Coli poster The Knicks are better than the Warriors... But worse than the Sun's.

YallSohhMadd Logic 101 - Don't look at context.
