just to chime in cause im bored and my team has literally been off for like 5 days it seems like

i think all the knicks need is a change in philosophy and maybe addition by subtraction. rose and noah came to the knicks under the presumption they were there to help melo. when the truth is, you have a 7'3 match up nightmare that should be the premier player every night and noah and rose should be there to help him win. and if the attitude was there that melo still felt this team was his, he should have been traded for pieces that support kp noah and rose. not that melo is a bum, just that you have to recognize when its no longer your time. rondo and wade came to the bulls under the premises that it was clearly jimmy team. the chemistry and continuity is better for that reason.

btw i watch a lot of knick games because im rooting for rose to succeed, and a lot of loses came because roles still seem to not be defined imo. the second melo says, this is kp team, off to the moon the knicks go.

I mean sure they haven't got the big fish yet, but NY still is a destination. Having KP in his mid-20's is appealing to stars. I can't picture Kawhi or Harden going to NY or any city not in TX or FL for tax reasons, but Butler or Klay wouldn't mind playing in an expensive area given their used to it.
If those guys go anywhere it will be to play with buddies elsewhere or just recruit friends to them. That's the reality now and they both seem very comfy being the man where they at. Knicks gonna be fine regardless. Just have a couple hits in the next two drafts and Porzingis will be good enough to elevate guys

Not trading Melo, giving Noah a 4 year deal, and trading for Rose when you would of been better off tanking('17 draft is projected to be loaded).
signing noah was a win now move?
He hasnt been in his prime in 2 years
It looks like it will be a bad long term move, but noah is a role player, he was signed to play d and rebound

Getting rose for one year was bad?
U wanted to tank like philly:snoop:

Im done here

I'll say this, last year the "Knicks should tank" heads were flat out foolish considering we didn't even have our own pick. This season, it'd make some sense in terms of getting KP a running mate for the next decade. Fultz or Ball would be epic in MSG. But I ain't mad at going for the playoffs and putting hard work types in the locker room with KP. It makes picking a stud harder, but we still have near max space in the off season and KP has a lot of good influences around him. If the draft position stops us from bagging a top dog at PG, I'd be pushing hard for Milos Teodosic on a 2 year deal that pays well. That'd line up with the other vets expiring and give the Knicks a great PG (I don't think it's even a question with how good dude is even if he didn't play in the NBA yet).

The crazy thing is that Melo will be off the books and Noah will be an expiring come 2019. The 2019 FA class is stacked, Klay; Kawhi, Harden, and Butler will all be FA in summer '19.

It's very conceivable that NY winds up with one of those guys given NY should have cap space and KP will likely be a franchise player by then. So @Shogun is right, yes the Knicks are treadmill are now, but they should be fine if they don't do any more short-sighted win now moves and just play for 2019 FA.

I can't live this life no more..... Every time the knicks get money some better team has more money..... or the cap goes up so everybody has money......
Well, I don't know that this is true.

They certainly have an eye for international talent. But they're picks of college players are as follows:

Jerian Grant - Taken over Bobby Portis, Rondae Hollis Jefferson, Larry Nance Jr. and Norman Powell.

Cleanthony Early - Taken over Jerami Grant, Nikola Jokic, and Jordan Clarkson

Tim Hardaway Jr. - Taken over Rudy Gobert, Andre Roberson, and Allen Crabbe

And last year, with PLENTY of intriguing talent left on the board in the late first and into the second, they refused to buy a pick and add another potential young piece.

Now, the draft is all hindsight. So it's easy to nit pick. But they've had 6 or so picks over the last three years (plus the opportunity for another one or two) and turned that into 1 star from the lone lottery pick, and one role player, who they found while scouting KP.

I was going to say under Clarence Gaines and yeah they fukked up on Jerian..... though to be fair they didn't bother to develop him, he was on a team with Derek "is that your girl" Fisher and likely got no training/development outside of fukkball and the triangle version of fukkball. Potentially he would likely look a lot better under Hornecek and would of been great as a potential 2 off the bench on a rookie deal.

I'll say this, last year the "Knicks should tank" heads were flat out foolish considering we didn't even have our own pick. This season, it'd make some sense in terms of getting KP a running mate for the next decade. Fultz or Ball would be epic in MSG. Last year made no sense except to trade people for a pick.....

I also think the knicks need to say fukk it to get KP a potential long term running mate. Look at a team like LAL or the Wolves that are stacked with young talent on cheap deals that can develop together..... The knicks need to see the tree's for the forest and make moves to prepare for KP's prime.

Def agree here, the league is no longer where you can use cap space as a leverage. By 2019 a plethora of teams will have money to spend. So you can't hope to dangle that money to get a superstar who is being coveted by 15 teams in the league.

Nowadays it's either you have a guy on your squad who can recruit these stars to your squad, or you forced to overpay for guys who not worth it. The superstars are looking for the perfect situations, play with friends, big market to make money off the court, a legit chance to win it all or at least compete at a high level. With all the new money that is a possibility with a lot of teams.
